This is a little more narrow than I feel like you typically find but otherwise it has good support/firmness and works well. If you want to have support under your lower back or upper back while doing exercises or stretches, it’s really does seem to do the job well enough. Read more
I just started my workout journey this year, thinking it would be easy to slide back into because I played soccer until my mid-20s. I’m now 40, and let me tell you, my body laughed at me the first time I tried to do one crunch—forget a full rep of 10. Thankfully, I workout at home, so the only witness to my struggle was my dog, who seemed to find my flailing hilarious. That’s when I turned to Amazon, hoping for something that would make sit-ups less like a medieval torture device. Enter this ab mat. The first thing I noticed is the contour—it actually supports my lower back, which makes sit-ups feel doable instead of painful. I can finally get a full stretch in my abs without feeling like I’m about to fold myself in half the wrong way. It’s also surprisingly versatile. You can flip it around to see what angle works best for you, which was handy since I wasn’t sure at first how to position it. Once I found my groove, it stayed in place and kept me aligned so I didn’t cheat the movement with bad form. My abs burned in a way that felt productive instead of punishing. For anyone worried about safety—this thing does a solid job of protecting your lower back. I’ve noticed I’m more consistent with ab workouts now because I don’t dread them as much. Is it magic? No. But does it make crunches bearable enough that even my skeptical, creaky 40-year-old body can push through them? Absolutely. Read more
The Mission Athletics Ab Mat is one of those simple but game-changing pieces of workout equipment. I’ve been using it in my home gym for sit-ups, crunches, and core workouts, and it makes a huge difference in both comfort and form. The contoured design gives great lower back support, which keeps me from straining or arching in awkward ways. It really helps isolate the abs so I’m working the right muscles instead of feeling it in my hips or back. The non-slip base keeps it steady on the floor, and the dense foam is firm enough to give support but still cushioned enough to be comfortable. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to move around or store away, which is a big plus for small workout spaces. I also like that it’s covered in a durable, wipe-clean material, so it holds up well to sweat and regular use. Pros: Provides excellent lower back support during sit-ups. Helps target abs more effectively. Non-slip, durable, and easy to clean. Compact and portable for home gyms. Cons: Only really useful for ab/core workouts (not a multi-purpose mat). A bit firm at first until you get used to it. Overall, this ab mat is a solid addition to any home workout setup. It helps take the strain off your back, makes ab exercises more effective, and is way more comfortable than doing crunches on a flat floor. Definitely worth having if you’re serious about building core strength. Read more
My husband has always wanted to do regular crunches, but they hurt his back. He has even tried using one of my yoga mats and it still causes discomfort. When I saw this, I thought we would give it a try. It has actually been really helpful. There is a really good cushion to it, which makes it much more comfortable to do crunches on the ground. Also, because there is an incline, you don’t have to go all the way down to the ground. You’re still getting a good abdominal workout without sacrificing your lower back. I think this is a really good value for the item itself. The comfort it brings at such a reasonable price is a really great deal. As far as quality, I feel like this is really durable. The film is soft, but it is not so pliable that it will break down easily. as long as you take care of it. The outer covering is some sort of plastic or vinyl. Because of that I would not leave it anywhere where it would be indirect sunlight because that would cause it to crack. Also, I would wipe it down gently with a warm cloth after use. Overall, I feel like this provides great support and is a nice addition to your exercise routine. It is also a in that both my husband and I can use it comfortably. It is easy to store, however because it is not too large or bulky. Read more
This ab mat is great! It’s versatile as an ab mat, as well as a back support for office use. I’ve been using it daily for work, as well as a couple of times per week in the gym. My doctor actually recommended getting this style mat to improve back pain and work and he sure was on to something. At $25, this is a great value. It’s supportive on the back when used in a chair, and it’s been super durable throughout daily use for work and as well as frequent use exercising. Read more
