I have been making a lot of car trips lately and I really like my Bodega/Alpicool 12-volt portable car cooler. While on the road, I load up my 12-volt car cooler with the contents of my home refrigerator. One of the two sections can actually work as a freezer. I love to cook and try to avoid the expense of too many restaurant meals. That saves a lot of shopping and expenses once I arrive at my destination. The cooler has probably paid for itself many times over by saving on grocery and meal expenses. While I am driving, the cooler is powered by the cigarette lighter outlet in the car. At a hotel or when I arrive at my rented condo, I need to power the cooler with AC wall power to keep the contents cold. My cooler did come with an AC adapter, but I want to be sure I have a spare to ensure my expensive food doesn't spoil. This 12 volt adapter does work okay with my cooler. There are some differences from the original I want to point out. The original AC power supply that came with my cooler is rated on the label as 14.5 Volts 6 Amps. This supply is rated on the label as 12 Volts 15 Amps. My cooler displays the current input voltage on its control panel. While the original supply will range between 13.5 and 14.1 volts while running, this supply ranges from 10.1 to 11.4 volts while the cooler is running. Evidently, the cooler I have can operate through a wide range of DC voltages from 9.0 volts up to 15 volts. So that provides a lot of leeway in what the input voltage can be. The lower voltage of this power supply still worked fine to keep the cooler running and cooling. Generally, a higher 14.5 DC voltage is more efficient than a lower 12.0 DC voltage for a portable DC refrigerator. A higher voltage allows for a lower current draw for the same amount of power, reducing energy losses due to resistance in the wiring and connections. I personally can't see any difference in how the cooler operates with these different voltages. I do know that my cooler has a "battery saver" mode that saves my car battery from damage due to over-discharging. It does this by turning off the cooler when the voltage gets so low that the DC battery can be damaged. The control panel and the cooler app allow me to switch between three different low voltage shutdown thresholds, L-9.0V, M-11.5V and H-12.0V. Because this power supply consistently ran in the 10V range, I needed to set the cooler to the "L" range to prevent it from turning off while powered by this supply. Although the output voltage is a little lower than expected, it works fine. I'm rating this power supply with five stars because its quality construction, functions as described, and is a good value at the $9.99 price advertised when I ordered it. Read more

Provides nearly the full wattage fine but if you exceed it at all the voltage drops significantly so make sure your devices are compatible Read more
This is great for using your car accessories, such as a tire inflator or handheld vacuum, inside the house. It also seems to be a good option for using with one of those food/drink chiller type coolers that plugs into the cigarette lighter, if you want to use it in the house. While I am driving, the cooler is powered by the cigarette lighter outlet in the car. At a hotel or when I arrive at my rented condo, I need to power the cooler with AC wall power to keep the contents cold to ensure my expensive food doesn't spoil. Read more
This AC to DC converter is a handy gadget for anyone who wants to use their car-powered devices indoors. It effectively converts standard 110V/220V AC household current into a 12V DC output with a standard car cigarette lighter socket. The long power cord offers good reach. However, it's crucial to heed the warning and ensure your car device doesn't draw more than 10A or 120W. **Pros:** * **Great for Utilizing Car Devices Indoors:** This converter allows you to use a wide range of car-powered devices, like tire inflators, car vacuums, fans, and even some small car refrigerators, conveniently at home or in any location with a standard AC outlet. * **Long Power Cord:** The 8-foot total length of the power converter is a significant advantage, providing flexibility in terms of outlet placement and device usage. * **Simple Plug-and-Play Operation:** Using the converter is straightforward. Just plug it into a wall outlet and then plug your car device into the female cigarette lighter socket. * **Lightweight and Portable:** The compact size makes it easy to store and transport, which could be useful for camping or other situations where you might want to use car devices away from a vehicle. * **Safety Features:** The inclusion of overcharge, short circuit, overload, and over-heat protection provides peace of mind regarding the safety of both the converter and the connected devices. * **Wide Input Voltage Range:** The 100V~240V input range makes it suitable for use in various countries, which is a plus for travelers. **Cons:** * **Crucial to Check Device Power Draw:** The most important thing to note is the 10A/120W limit. You *must* check the specifications of your car device to ensure it doesn't exceed this. Using a device with a higher power draw could damage the converter or the device. * **Some Car Devices Might Not Function Optimally:** While it provides power, some car devices designed for a car's electrical system might not function exactly the same when powered by this type of converter. This is less about the converter being faulty and more about the inherent differences between a car's electrical system and an AC-to-DC converter. * **Potential for Noise with Some Devices:** Depending on the type of car device you're using, there might be a slight buzzing or humming noise from the converter. This wasn't an issue with all the devices I tested, but it's something to be aware of. **Overall:** This AC to DC converter is a useful tool for anyone wanting to power their car accessories indoors. It's well-built, easy to use, and has a good length power cord. The safety features are also reassuring. However, the 10A/120W power limit is a critical factor – always double-check your car device's power requirements before using it with this converter. As long as your devices are within the specified limits, this converter provides a convenient way to extend their usability beyond your vehicle. Read more

Forget inflator claims this thing is running my portable refrigeration chest from Coleman pulling about 70-83watts. It gets a warm during operation but I've had it running for 4 days now with no issues. This adapter brings a car outlet to your home and allows you to do things like use tools normally used in a car, or charge a device that has an plug for a car outlet. Very durable, completely silent, totally worth the price and the build quality is excellent in every way make this easily an item I would recommend to my friends and more. This needs to be plugged into the wall so it is not portable in that sense. Read more
