I needed a data transfer unit from my old hard drives to a flash drive. I ordered this product and it works well. The price was great too. It’s a simple plug in but be aware of the size of the hard drive to connect properly since there are different size options. Sadly some of my old hard drives were corrupt, not the fault of this product. Keep in mind this will only work with hard drives and not solid state drives. Read more

With the imminent demise of Windows 10 to deal with, we have replaced two computers and bought this reader to address the issue of transferring data files from old to new machines. Not being a computer nerd, I struggled a bit with the issue of "permissions", but once that was resolved the reader did exactly what I needed it to do. It's relatively easy to use ( with a little YouTube help to overcome the too brief instructions ) , and was versatile enough to work on two different types of hard drive equally well, and the price was right. This device works great and is extremely fast. I hooked up my old sata drive and it recognized it right away. I also have old IDE drives that wouldn’t show up for me. A quick google search later and I found the jumpers on these drives makes a huge difference. Once I set them to master or cable select it was easy. Great product. Read more

This little gizmo works great! I thought I was gonna have to buy a whole new computer to recover the data on my hard drive low and behold, I plugged in the adapter, stuck it into the side of my laptop, flipped on the power and there was all my data in photos. Obviously, it will not recover programs, you'll need the actual original disk for that, but you will have all the data available as well as photos and other files. It was very easy. It worked out of the box for my IDE drive but not for the SATA. The manual is tiny and impossible to read without a magnifying glass. The problem solving solutions are very short, lacking in detail, and not helpful if you are not well versed in the technology. While I happen to know what jumpers are and can locate them on the hard drive, I have no idea what to do with them based on the cryptic explanation. Referring me to the long gone hard drive manual is useless advice. They say technical support is available, but they don't tell you how to contact them. The brand name is nowhere found on the product or manual. It looks like a generic product. Read more
