I purchased this Acer to replace our old 17 inch square monitor that went out on us. I’ve had that old flat screen for about 10 years and didn’t want or need anything super fancy to replace it for our regular daily use. I ordered this one in the 21.5 size and most of the new monitors I was researching are no longer square but rather a rectangle that is longer/wider than it is tall. You can see this in the picture on the products page. The monitor was super easy to install, it came while I was at work and my not computer savvy husband and children managed to get it set up and working without my help. When I came home I double checked their work, but they had done everything correctly and I didn’t have to fix anything. That means that this is a good basic monitor for someone who may not have a lot of experience and needs something simple to set up. It comes with a basic non-adjustable stand, this smaller size does not support using swinging/multimonitor stands or wall mounts that would screw into the back. I did find that it was a bit short for my personal preference and the stand is not adjustable height wise so I bought a monitor stand that raised it up about 4 inches and gave me room to store office supplies below. At this height with the stand it is perfect. It does slightly tilt so you can do some minor adjustment if needed for glare or comfort. It does say that it is Full HD, but I just have it hooked up to my computer via a basic monitor cord (I think it is the VGA cord, my husband connected the cord that was plugged from the computer to the old monitor into this new monitor) so I don’t know if it truly is HD. I’m a bad judge at those kinds of things, it looks nice…better and brighter than my old monitor. I do more web surfing and using Microsoft Word and it looks good with all that I have used it for. My husband watches a lot of Youtube videos on it and says that the videos look better than the old monitor that it replaced. Read more

I was using a 20" iMac for a very long time. When it died, I couldn't afford a new one, so I transferred my operations to a 13" MacBook, and obviously missed all that screen area, and decided to shop for a new monitor. I found this one here on Amazon at an excellent price, and also got the VGA adapter for my MacBook (Mini DVI to VGA). Connection was no problem at all; Mini DVI to VGA adapter to the MacBook, VGA cable (included with the monitor) from the adapter to the VGA port on the monitor. Plugged the monitor into AC power, turned it on. No picture immediately, unplugged the adapter from the MacBook and plugged it back in; there we go, picture. I found a couple of tutorials on using an external monitor with the MacBook, learned the various options, ran the System Preferences for "Display", set it the way I wanted it, and I'm up and running. Picture on the monitor looks just great with the settings right out of the box, no reason to change anything. It's been only 2 days, but so far, I'm very happy with this monitor; it's exactly what I was looking for. Easy setup, great picture quality, excellent price; who could ask for more... Read more

Pros: -Great price -Quality display Cons: -No HDMI output (DVI or VGA) -Not VESA compatible Detailed Review: I bought two of these displays for a PC build. I wanted to run HDMI out from my GPU, but these monitors happened to only have VGA or DVI out. Luckily, I read that part in the description and just bought a couple of cables to manage the conversion. The price was very favorable and I was pleased with the display quality. After a month, I decided I wanted to mount them on my wall; however, without VESA compatibility, I had to buy a VESA adapter from HumanCentric. These weren't cheap, but they worked to get these non-VESA monitors to work with a VESA mount. Read more

For years, I've been using a 20" TV screen as my second monitor, which as you can imagine was not the best idea; it worked great for images/games, but when it came to having lots of text-based documents open at once (which happens often, because I'm in grad school), it was a bust. I finally convinced myself that it was time to replace ye olde television with an actual computer monitor, and I wish I had done it sooner! This Acer monitor is great: fairly thin, sturdy (my cat jumps up on my desk to get to her food bowl, so this is important), great picture, awesome price. I definitely recommend this monitor. I needed a second monitor on my PC to better prepare for the Amazon Web Services Academy classes I'll be teaching. I thought I was going to have to buy a heavy duty power supply for a new video card, to support the additional monitor. A $200 expenditure at least! Examining the back of my computer I discovered an unused HDMI port. This particular monitor does not support HDMI, but is very reasonably priced. I was getting ready to grit my teeth and buy the extra hardware, then I thought about checking the reviews. Always read the reviews from others. Another buyer had a similar concern and purchased an Amazon Basics HDMI-to-DVI cable. He said it worked perfectly. I ordered the same with the confidence that the solution was backed by Amazon Prime Customer Service. Now, all is working perfectly for me as well. 15 minutes to set up, I did not have to re-build my system, and the total bill was a whole lot less than I expected. The monitor arrived a day earlier than expected, which is a precious day not lost. This is not a commercial, but I am delighted. Today, Amazon has exceeded my expectations, which is what I demand with every purchase. This might not be the solution for everyone, but I don't require heavy graphics or gaming response. So I do advise considering your specific requirements first. For me, this purchase earns all the stars. Read more
