Adjust Your Display Settings!!!
This monitor is incredible, but there are plenty of reviews about that. This review is for the dummies, like me. When I first connected the monitor, I was super disappointed. It didn't look any better than my previous, dinosaur monitor. I felt ripped off. The next day, I told my techie coworker about my new purchase and he said, to paraphrase, "It's a shame that a lot of people buy new monitors and never experience their full capability, because they don't know to go into the Display Settings on their computer and adjust the Refresh Rate." Lo and behold, I was one of those people, and not ashamed to admit it. I assumed the computer and monitor would work this out on their own. They do not. On a Windows PC, right-click on your desktop and select Display Settings. Scroll down to Advanced Display Settings, and check the refresh rate drop-down box. My computer was set to 59.940hz. With this new monitor, I was able to bump it up to 120hz (you can go higher if you have a DisplayPort input on your PC). Even bumping up to 120hz, the viewing experience suddenly went from disappointing to mind-blowing! I find myself making up reasons to be on my computer, just so I can look at this monitor. It's incredible. Feel free to blast me, tech nerds, for not knowing to do this, but also know that this isn't about you. It's about helping other people. I hope it does. And in our defense, the monitor's user manual provides zero guidance. Read more
