I usually prefer studying in the library or outdoors, and I needed an extended monitor to follow video tutorials while coding. A friend recommended this Acer portable monitor, and it has honestly made my life so much easier. Instead of constantly switching tabs, I can focus better and be more productive. The monitor is lightweight and slim, so it slips easily into my laptop bag, and the USB-C connectivity makes setup super simple. For the price, the Full HD screen looks sharp and clear, and it’s perfect for everyday tasks like coding, browsing, or watching tutorials. This isn’t a monitor for color-critical work like professional photo editing, but for students, travelers, and anyone who needs a reliable second screen, it’s a fantastic budget-friendly choice. Would I recommend it? Absolutely yes. Read more

I love the simplicity of not needing an extra power cable for using the monitor and the added bonus of being able to charge your device (usb c connected) if another power source is connected by usb c. The quality is great and free warranty is available. Read more

Instructions did not mention the control button on the bottom of the screen, nor did I see anything online about it. It took a few days to find this out from a friend. I still don't understand how to fully customize the screen, but it functions well enough. If you have experience with this tech, it probably won't matter. Read more

Even though at the time I purchased this in late May 2023, the 15+ inch model was basically the same price as the 13.3 inch model, I chose the smaller for portability. It's wonderful! It's the size of a Macbook 13 inch screen, which is plenty enough for my accessory side screen. The larger screened model has a different stand, similar to an Apple ipad folding screen stand. I don't love those so I figured the pull-out stick of the 13.3 inch screen might be better for me, if it works; it does work and, like the one on the larger sceen, is not adjustable for angle. That said, it's very sturdy and built in. The 13.3 inch model comes with a padded pouch for the screen, the larger screen model does not. Very happy with plug n play on my 2021 M1 Macbook Pro. Literally no settings to adjust on the computer or on the Acer monitor, I just plugged it in and it worked. I do wish it would stand in Profile view, but it is landscape only. The resolution is fine for running Twitch, Tweetdeck, etc on the side screen, and I am very pleased. Amazing value. Are the bezels big? Yes, but same on 15 inch model, and once watching the screen they go unnoticed. Since its portable, nice to have something to grab hold of, the bezels are functional. No built-in speakers. No need external power necessary, works off the USB-C power. It didnt flicker or anything. Some reviews mention a dark screen, especially when running from a laptop on battery. I do not at all notice this on my MacBook Pro; the Acer screen is bright and fine even when I am running 100% on laptop battery (i.e. laptop unplugged), so maybe this is not a MacOS issue for this Acer. Once reason to consider the 13.3 inch model is the pixel ratio is the same so the resolution should be better on the smaller screen. No screen lag for social media use (I do not game). The USB-C to USB-C cable is about three feet long, which is nice to plug the monitor in to either side (near or far side) of your laptop. Recommended. Read more

I was a little concerned after reading other reviews if this would work with my 2016 Macbook Pro. It does work, but oddly it's only working with the 2 USB-C ports on the right side. Might be an issue just for me. The cable that came with it was only 3' and is not flexible, so it was right in the way of where I wanted my monitor setup. I purchased a cable but it turned out to not support video, only power. I then found a 6' cable that works in addition to a 90-degree angle USB-C connector. This way the cable doesn't get in my way. The Acer PM161Q is an excellent portable monitor, delivering impressive image quality in a lightweight and travel-friendly design. It’s incredibly easy to take on the go, making it a great choice for professionals or students who need the flexibility of a dual-monitor setup wherever they are. The included self-standing sheath provides decent stability, although it could be sturdier. One aspect that could be improved is the mixed mechanical/button menu selector. While functional, it feels a bit fragile and could be prone to issues over time. That said, for the price and portability, it’s hard to beat this monitor's convenience and clarity. If you’re frequently working outside of a traditional office or need an extra screen on the go, the Acer PM161Q is definitely worth considering. Read more
