I go for 5- to 7-mile trail runs several times per week early in the morning when it's still dark out. For at least half of the year it's still chilly at that time of day...often just above freezing in the winter (I'm in Northern California). This neck warmer provides the single layer I need around my neck so I can still get by with just a short sleeve and a long sleeve on top (no need for a jacket).
