So I got the 2-10lb vest and it's 10lbs with all of the weights in it. If you don't want it that heavy, you can remove the sand bags from some of the pockets to make it the weight that you want. The pockets velcro so it's easy to open and close and the bags that the sand are in look like they're sewed double stitched so they shouldn't leak sand putting them in/out of the pockets. The material that it's made from is of a good quality, I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I see this lasting. It's not heavy to wear and the shoulder area has extra padding so if you're using the 10lbs, it shouldn't bother your shoulders. I like that it has the front zip pocket so you have a spot to put your phone and keys and can be hand free. It has adjustable straps on the side so it should fit up to a size XL maybe 2XL easily, or it can fit all the way down to a small looking at the size with the straps completely tightened. The media could not be loaded. I am a fitness coach, hiker, backpacker and I jog. I have a few weighted vests, but I don't have an adjustable one, so I picked this up to give it a try. I use my vests to help with knee rehab and to keep myself in better shape out of hiking season, as well as for my clients. Pros - The weight is distributed well in the vest well, and the wide shoulders help distribute the load across your traps. I did not feel lopsided at all. - The wights have heavy duty nylon covers vs plastic. - It is easy to remove and replace the weights in the pockets - It is easy to keep the weights properly distributed when removing or adding them back in. - The front accessory pocket is nicely placed and easy to access. It is large enough to hold keys, snacks and my phone- I like the reflective strips on the vest. They are helpful when out at night or early in the morning - The weight adjustability is makes this much more versatile. You don't need a new vest each time you want to go up on weight and you can micro adjust for exercises such as for pull-ups or lunges. There are 8, 1lb weights, so the vest can be adjusted from 2 to 10lbs. - I am 5ft 110lbs with an hourglass figure. It fit OK on me. It was hitting the top of my hips, but not annoyingly so. So this works for short curvy gals. - My husband tired it on and it fit him well too, so this will work perfectly fine for men as well. Cons - The vest bounces quite a bit when running or jumping, enough so that my shoulders were tight and sore after a 20min jog. I had the vest cinched down as tight as possible. A second set of straps at the top could help with this. - There are only 2 adjustments and they needed to be pulled backwards vs forwards to adjust, which was awkward. I ended up having to take the vest off to make adjustments (a highly adjustable item should be quick and easy to make bigger or smaller with it on your torso) - I found that the front weights were pushing uncomfortably into my stomach, but I tend to be sensitive to weight pressing in that area. - Unlike a daypack or backpack. the the load sits on your shoulders vs on your hips. This can cause shoulder and/or lower back pain, as it did during my jog. - You have to put this on over your head, vs behind you like a vest or jacket. That can be a little awkward with the extra weight. In sum, the vest works well for walking, hiking, doing chores or adding an evenly distributed weight during a workout (for things such as squats or pullups vs using, say, a dumbell), but for running it was too bouncy for me. I also didn't like the way the weight was distributed across my stomach. In addition, for someone who is fit or a larger person, 10lbs is really light. This is good for people new to exercise, or pre/post rehab, or for someone wanting to add a light load to their everyday fitness/daily routine. I found it useful for my knee rehab, and to use with my clients. It is well made and I expect it to last a long time. REVIEW SUMMARY: My goal for each review is to list both the pros and cons of the product as I see it. - I reserve 4 (like) and 5 (love) star ratings only for products I would either recommend to others or buy for myself. - 5 stars are specifically reserved for products that excite or amaze me, are exceptionally high quality, and/or work perfectly. - 4 stars are for items that mostly work and that I like, but there are some improvements that could be made. - 3 stars (it's ok) I would recommend with reservations. What a great - and needed- addition to my exercise regimen! I've been told that as you age you need to add strength training to your workouts, as well as weight-bearing exercises. I joined a gym and got on a strength training program. Now with this adjustable weighted vest, I have added this to my daily walks! The vest is easy to "load" with the individual weights. You have several options for placement and how heavy you want it to be. Of course, I started with a low weight and gradually move up as it gets easier and easier.
