Well Worth It

I have been using the Aetertek AT-211sw-1 LCD for about three weeks now and I've seen a huge improvement in my Cockapoo's behavior. I also like the fact I don't have to use batteries and both the collar and receiver are rechargeable. The receiver turns off if you're not using it saving its battery life, but the collar remains on. The receiver stays charged for days since it turns off when not in use. The collar has remained charged for at least a day+ on one charge. I don't know how long it would take to fully recharge the collar since I leave it charging either over night or for a few hours when I'm not using it. The various settings (10) and the fact that you can use the sound/vibration/shock separately is a bonus. I use the sound as positive reinforcement with the vibrate as caution and the shock as negative reinforcement (of course). I leave it at level 2 because anything greater than that is too harsh for my dog (12lbs and 6 months old). I've tested the higher levels on myself and they're strong. The sound is not a big deal and neither is the vibrate on higher levels, but the shock is too powerful. I accidently shocked my dog at 5 and he cried. I've shocked myself at 3 & 4 as a test and it hurt. I can't imagine at 5 through 10! The collar strap is more than big enough for my dog with plenty of strap left. I think the strap is large enough for larger dogs (at least a 70lb dog - my opinion). If the strap is too short I think it's easy to find another to slip through the collar device openings. I would recommend this to any dog owner looking to train their dog. In three weeks I'm at the point where I can walk my dog outside without a leash with no issues. I stood outside Target today and he listened to every command. Not once did he leave my side, barked or misbehaved. Everyone made a comment how well behaved he was and I know the Aetertek has helped me get to this point and for the price you can't beat it. Read more

Great for loud-mouthed cats. I disabled the "shock" feature.

Joeβ€”December 31, 2015βœ“ Verified purchase

I ordered this to help train our big-mouth cat who likes to wander around at 4am howling for no reason. For those with dogs, I certainly understand the "shock" capability and need, but for behavior training a cat, I consider it excessive force. I (voiding my warranty), just removed the 4 screws on the housing and clipped the two wires going to the probes, and reassembled. Now I don't have to worry about accidentally hitting the shock button in the middle of the night, and no comments from friends... "dude you have a shock collar on your cat??". No, it's not a shock collar. anymore. :) Beyond that, this thing works great. I trained the cat by turning the vibration mode all the way up (controlled level 1 - 10 on the remote), and when he would start to howl, I first hit the chirp (audible alarm), then immediately hit the vibration (about as strong as your cell phone's vibrate mode), which would startle him. I did that a couple times, from then I only had to hit the chirp, because he was conditioned to know what's coming after that. It has been very effective at correcting that behavior. As a bit of a side note, this really is a good way to correct behavior, as the animal doesn't know you are controlling it. If you just yell at the animal, clap your hands or otherwise try to stop the behavior, ultimately you're just going to make the animal scared of YOU, since you are dishing out the discipline. Just let this thing be the 'bad cop', and you can be 'good cop'! Just my two cents. Others have complained about battery life - I haven't had any trouble. I almost exclusively use it with the audible chirp, and rarely use the vibration, and never (I cut the wires) use the shock mode. With that, It lasts about 24 hours. The remote lasts much longer, and charges with the same cable. As for size, I would compare it to a snack size Snickers candy bar, one of the little ones you give out at Halloween. It's also very light. Hope this helps! Read more

It doesn't work. Waste of $50. Another Amazon gamble that came up short.

Reefβ€”January 28, 2016βœ“ Verified purchase

The collar we received didn't look new, possibly a refurb or return. It looks like it charges, but either the charge doesn't last or its faulty. You can't tell if it's on because it beeps at different times, and when it did turn in, it would work for one correction, then it wouldn't work again until you turned it off and back on again. We bought a different one for our larger dog from another company that works awesome. This one was for a smaller breed.....it was a waste of $50. Read more

Not greatest charge or response time

Damian Vargasβ€”January 19, 2017βœ“ Verified purchase

Charged both remote & collar upon arrival. That was 2 weeks ago. The remaining still running, never recharged once, the collar only lasts about 10-12 hrs whether you use it or not. Have to charge ot daily. Also there is either a delay between remote and collar or doesnt respond to command unless you hold the button down for extended time then signals. By the time the warning goes off on the collar my pet has already walked away. When active it does get my pet's immediate attention though Read more
