Versatile crocheted sweater that looks great with jeans or dressed up for the office. It pairs beautifully with a plain t-shirt. Buttoned up, this sweater can be worn alone although most will prefer to wear a cami underneath because of the somewhat open crochet. Surprisingly, this cute sweater was advertised that it could also be used as a swim cover-up. It is much too nice for that. No defects – good workmanship. Stripes match up. Cut-and-sewn side seams. The crocheted viscose (rayon) fibers are silky and have a soft drape. Viscose is an inexpensive semi-synthetic fiber that must be treated with some care. I machine-washed it on “warm” in a mesh delicates bag. After partially drying on “low”, this sweater was then carefully hung to finish drying. I did not block it. Despite my concern that the fibers might be too delicate, this sweater laundered perfectly. No shrinkage; it held its shape. No fading. I ordered an XL, my usual size. It is a generous true-to-size and easily buttoned up without pulling. However, because of the button placement, adding a discreet pin inside at the bustline may be needed to prevent unattractive gaping. Worn open, it looks somewhat matronly because of my particular figure. It falls to my low hip and almost completely covers my upper arms – a plus. For reference, my measurements are bust 43", waist 41", hips 46". Ht 5'3'; weight 185#; apple figure. I regret not ordering a solid color because the black & white stripes add width to my apple figure. This was my own mistake: I thought the stripes were cute and added style and interest so took the chance. Just because the stripes aren’t flattering on me is not a reason to deduct stars because I’m certain they would look terrific on someone else. AKEWEI Women Hollow Out Crochet Cardigan, Collared Short Sleeve Button Down Sweater (Navy Blue, XXL)—I run hot. It's a rare day here in Southern Arizona, even in the winter, that I keep a sweater on for more than a few minutes. So when I see a short-sleeved sweater, I take an interest. There's a lot to like in this sweater. I ordered an XXL based on the size chart, and the fit is perfect. I have a 44" bust. The XXL is said to be 47" at the bust and I'm delighted that it really seems to be at least that, because it doesn't pull in the front at all, even with the buttons done up. The material is crocheted viscose, which makes for a cool fabric with a nice drape. I mean, it literally feels cool to the touch! Viscose (rayon) is heavy, which contributes to the drape. Another touch I like are the shirt-style collar. If you leave the top buttons open, the collar resembles a blazer—a neat look that can add class to an outfit. Also, I really appreciate that the buttons are small and match the color of the sweater. The recent fashion of large, contrasting buttons on sweaters (if they have buttons at all, don't get me started on open cardigans!) doesn't appeal to me. The sweater is made in China, but unlike many garments sold online, it is appropriately labeled with fabric content, place of origin and care instructions. I wish a spare button or two were included, but all in all, this short-sleeved mild-weather cardigan is a good value at the prices I've seen it offered so far.
