Although more expensive than a normal alkaline, these can be recharged hundreds of times and even last longer too. I've recharged a few of these batteries 10+ times and they're still working like new. It is significantly more economical to purchase a few rechargeable than it is to keep purchasing alkaline batteries over and over. The one con is that these batteries are a bit larger than a typical alkaline AAA battery. This made them a bit of a snug fit in some compartments, but I was always able to get them to fit.
