I wanted to wait a couple of months before I give my honest review. I recently purchased the Amazon Basics air conditioner, and it has been such a relief during the hot days. I was looking for something reliable, easy to set up, and efficient, and this model has delivered on all fronts. Installation was straightforward — the instructions were clear, and I had it running in no time. It cools my room quickly, and I love that it does so quietly. I can sleep, work, or watch TV without the hum being distracting. The controls are very intuitive, and I appreciate the different modes and fan speeds. It also feels sturdy and well-made, which is reassuring for an appliance I’ll be using frequently. What I really like is that it maintains a consistent temperature without constantly cycling on and off, making the room feel comfortable without wasting energy. The design is clean and unobtrusive, so it fits nicely in my space without looking bulky. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s effective, affordable, and easy to use — exactly what I needed to get through the warmer months comfortably. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a no-fuss, dependable air conditioner. Read more

These are noisy little boxes that put a great stream of cool air in summer. Use in smaller rooms during day. Very easy to mount in windows that open vertically. Too noisy for night use. Like the simple dial controls. Read more

Sometimes, less is more, especially when it comes to cooling a single room. I picked up the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU Small Window Air Conditioner specifically for my bedroom, and it has proven to be the ideal workhorse for targeted cooling. While it doesn't boast built-in Wi-Fi, its simplicity is actually its biggest strength for my particular use case: full automation through Home Assistant. Installation was a breeze – truly one of the easiest window units I've ever dealt with. It's lightweight and the adjustable window kit made for a snug fit in minutes. Once it was in, I plugged it into a smart plug, which is the secret sauce to my setup. Paired with motion and temperature sensors in Home Assistant, this little unit is now fully automated. It only kicks on when someone is in the room and the temperature crosses my comfort threshold. This means no wasted energy cooling an empty room, and I walk into a perfectly chilled space every time. I only wish I could somehow turn the fan down when it turns on overnight since it works a little too quickly The 5000 BTUs are absolutely perfect for my bedroom's size (under 150 sq. ft.). It cools down the space quickly and effectively. While the mechanical controls mean you can't directly control settings like fan speed through a smart app, the on/off functionality via the smart plug is exactly what I needed. Plus, the washable filter is a nice touch for easy maintenance and keeping the air fresh. It's not the quietest unit on the market, but the white noise it provides is actually quite soothing for sleeping. Pros: * Ideal for Single Rooms: 5000 BTUs is spot on for bedrooms, home offices, or other small spaces. * Smart Plug Friendly: Its mechanical controls make it a perfect candidate for automation with a smart plug and Home Assistant/other smart home hubs. * Easy Installation: Lightweight and comes with a simple adjustable window kit – practically plug-and-play. * Efficient Cooling: Gets the job done quickly and keeps the room consistently cool. * Washable Filter: Simple to remove and clean, promoting better air quality. * Affordable: Great value for a reliable small room AC. Cons: * No Built-in Smart Features: Requires a separate smart plug for automation (which, for me, is fine). * Mechanical Controls: No digital display or fine-tuned fan speed control directly on the unit. * Noticeable Noise Level: It's not whisper-quiet, though the consistent hum can be a plus for some as white noise. If you're looking for a simple, reliable, and incredibly effective window AC unit for a single room, especially if you plan to integrate it with your smart home setup using a smart plug, the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU unit is an outstanding choice. It proves that you don't need all the bells and whistles to achieve perfect, automated comfort. Read more

Awesome, cheap, and effective. My room is about 120 sq ft, so 5000 BTU is enough. My dad and I were able to assemble and install it in around 15 min. Installs very securely, and blows nice and cold air. My room noticeably cooled down in about 10 min. Only downside is that it's a bit noisy, but I'm mostly saying that because my desk is right next to the window. But I can also hear it when my room door is open and I'm down the hall. But for the price, I can't complain too much. Overall, great AC unit for the price. I'll update if anything happens in the future. Read more

I’m really impressed with this Amazon Basics window air conditioner. It’s compact but powerful enough to cool my small bedroom (about 130 sq ft) quickly and efficiently. The setup was simple — the adjustable window kit fit perfectly, and the instructions were easy to follow. I like that it has both cooling and fan functions, which is great for days when I just want air circulation without using the AC. The mechanical controls are super intuitive — no need to fumble with complicated digital settings. I also appreciate the washable filter, which is easy to remove and clean, making maintenance a breeze. It runs fairly quietly, especially for a unit at this price point, and it doesn’t take up much space in the window. For anyone looking to cool a small room without spending a fortune, this unit is a solid choice. Simple, reliable, and it gets the job done! Read more
