This product is very expensive as name brand and sold by the ounce. I purchased some small empty containers and used an alcohol cleaned butter knife to fill them with individual sized containers. This is great for bedtime on lips and any dry area. It also removes any and all makeup. This is one of my most economical purchases of the year. Read more

My husband has very dry, cracked, itchy skin. The heels of his feet are dry, cracked, and flaky. He really likes how this lotion left his skin feeling throughout the day. It has made a huge difference in the quality of his skin. It is no longer cracked and dry. The ointment is well worth the money, and he just ordered a second container. Read more

I've used this ointment on my hands, elbows, and lips through some dry winter weather. It creates a solid protective barrier that lasts through hand washing and daily activities. While it doesn't feel quite as heavy-duty as Aquaphor upon application, it still effectively soothes dry skin and prevents moisture loss. I found it particularly good for daytime use when I want protection without the heavy, greasy feel. Compared to Aquaphor, the Amazon version is slightly less thick and spreads more easily. While Aquaphor might have a slight edge for extremely dry, cracked areas that need maximum protection, the Basics ointment handles 90% of what most people need from a protective ointment. If you're budget-conscious or go through a lot of healing ointment, this is absolutely worth trying. The minor difference in thickness is easily outweighed by the significant savings. It's perfect for everyday dry skin maintenance, lip protection, and general first-aid needs. I'll continue using it as my primary ointment for most situations. TLDR: Pros: Β· Excellent value - it truly is about half the price of brand-name alternatives Β· Performs the core function of protecting and moisturizing dry skin very well Β· Sinks into the skin a bit faster than thicker ointments Β· Works great on dry patches, cuticles, and minor rough spots Β· The large tube is convenient and lasts a long time Cons: Β· Not quite as thick or viscous as Aquaphor Β· The texture feels slightly less rich upon application Read more

First day using it and I already love it. Slightly thinner consistency than the aquaphor, but still really good and moisturizing. Love it! Read more

This product is ok. I tried to use this instead of Aquaphor because the price was good. The only thing I dislike about this ointment is its too thin. I liked Aquaphor for chapped lips and dry feet. The moment this ointment hits your warm skin, it heats up and gets slippery. It is great for the price though. Read more

I had scratches on my back from those back scratches and lotion wasn't getting it. I started using my aquaphor that I had for tattoos, but it's was the small tube. I checked out ingredients in bith the Amazon ointment and aquaphor. They have basically same ingredients and Amazon's was cheaper. I love this product. It might go on greasy, but that doesn't last, and my scratches are not irritating anymore. Read more
