I have bought these for all of the beds in our house. I use them with two other products. The 3 products that I use are a (1st) fully encased zippered mattress protector, (2nd) a quilted mattress protector, and (3rd) a terry cloth waterproof mattress protector. The zippered en casement keeps dust and allergens out, the quilted layer adds softness and an extra absorbent layer should anything get through the terry cloth layer. The terry cloth layer is a first line of defense against moisture and wetness. I have found that I usually only need to occasionally wash and replace the top waterproof terry cloth protector. Mattresses are a big investment. Other things that I have tried have failed to protect the mattress but I have been using this 3 item system for years to successfully protect my mattresses and minimize allergens.
