For a cheap production whetstone, this is a great product for introducing someone to sharpening knives. Could the grit be finer? Yes, but it doesnt have to be - I reach a decent sharpness with all my kitchen blades. Rarely have an issue. I like the rubber pad underneath to hold it steady, but it serves little function as i usually sharpen on a towel since it can be a bit messy. Read more

I have always used an electric knife sharpener. Though easy to use and never give me the results that I knew that I could by taking a a little extra time and doing it on a stone, which I purchased. Advantages of the stone is the preciseness of the edge attained due to the angled knife holder that keeps your knife at the precise angle for the edge to be sharpened. I didn’t expect much, it’s a simple product but they’ve actually gone above and beyond with this one. The rubber protector makes the whetstone stick to the counter amazingly and I’ve not even had to worry about getting hurt. As it’s basically a two sided rock it’s really on the user to get the knife sharp but with the angle guide even an amateur like myself can get a really sharp edge.
