Good: It works. Installed a 15W LED bulb, nice and bright, no problems. Electrical parts seem robust. Foot switch is light but works well. Easy enough to assemble. Shade diffuses the light while blocking very little. Great price for what you get. Bad: The foot switch is there because there literally is no room for a switch on the lamp itself. Very thin and light, sturdy enough to hold the lamp upright, but that's all. Be careful when assembling - the pole is in multiple segments and the threads will probably strip out at the slightest excuse. Don't expect it to survive the first tip-over - if you have small children this lamp is not for you. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. I placed this floor lamp in my bedroom, and it’s been a great addition to the space. Assembly was very straightforward and didn’t take long at all. The pieces fit together easily, and no special tools were required. The lamp is lightweight but still feels sturdy once assembled. It doesn’t wobble and stands securely in place. The white shade does a nice job diffusing the light, creating a soft, even glow that brightens the room without feeling harsh. Although it includes a convenient foot pedal switch, I actually have mine connected to a Kasa smart outlet plug so I can schedule it to turn on and off automatically. It works perfectly with that setup. Overall, this is a clean, simple floor lamp that works well in a bedroom or small living space. This lamp comes in a compact box, but after opening it and setting it up, it looks great and is very sturdy and creating an ambient glow in a corner of my dining room that was dark before. It's made of quality material and the assembly is so simple. It has a floor on and off switch in the cord that turns it on by tapping my foot on it. I need about three more now. I love it. I’m happy with this lamp overall, especially for the price. Height and color are as pictured. I chose this light because of the remote and you can adjust the brightness. It only took about 10 min to put together. The beige shade clips on to the metal ring and it stays together with a velcro strip which feels flimsy. Two things to note: I tried using a different bulb and the remote stopped working, the remote only worked with the bulb that came with the lamp which may be a problem in the future. Also, the magnet on the remote isn’t very strong, so if you attach it to the pole it slowly slides down over time. Is this the prettiest lamp and lampshade I’ve ever seen-no. The price matches the look. Basic floor lamp and to be honest I was impressed with the pole being sturdier than I expected. The lampshade leaves much to be desired. Based on my comments why the 5-starts you ask. This lamp does exactly what I need it to do and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’m happy with this lamp. It's versatile enough to provide either bright task lighting or a soft glow, depending on the bulb you choose.
