Overall it's a good camera for the price and really plug-and-play.

Francisco BautistaJuly 30, 2020

=== Summary === Overall it's a good camera for the price, its really plug-and-play, I used it on OS X 10.15 (Catalina) and in order to start using it I just had to plug-it to a USB port for it to work, once connected all the Video Conferencing apps I use on a daily basis (WorkPlace Chat, WebEx, Bluejeans, Zoom, Skype, Hangouts, etc) would just recognize it and during the multiple calls I made through the week didn't experience any issues with the video. On the audio side, the microphone is not as good as I was expecting, the 3 occasions I tried to use it the other side of the call was having trouble hearing my voice (I ended using the integrated mic on my mac). === Image Quality === When comparing with my previous camera (Facetime camera in my Macbook Pro) the Amcrest camera provides a darker and more nitid image, it's also clear the difference in resolution, with the amcrest showing more details than the facetime camera, also it has a wider range and during night time the quality its preserved, right now I am using this camera for all my VCs. === Price === I paid $48 dollars for this camera, when comparing with the competing products from brands like Logitech (C920) this is a bargain and given the quality I saw on the product I don't see the need to spend more for the same. === Ease of Use === The camera is really plug-and-play, it took me less than 1 minute to set up (most of that time was playing with the position on top of my monitor), the adjustable leg is easy to handle and IMO will fit most monitors, in my case the monitors is a curved one and it fits with no problem, it also stays in position without any problem. === Built Quality === In terms of built quality I have no complains so far, the materials and finish are good quality and it looks nice in the bright black, will also look well with most monitors and color combinations (because black goes well with everything :)), if I had to improve something would be the brightness of the leds to the side of the camera, to me they can be brighter when the camera is in use (or use a different led color like blue). === Audio (microphone) === On the microphone department is where I believe Amcrest should invest a little more of time and effort, during my ownership I have tried to use the integrated mic in 3 different occasions and with different softwares (Bluejeans, Zoom, and Workplace chat), in all these the other parties complained about the volume of my voice, I tried using the software controls to increase it but that didn't help, it seems to me that the mic is not able to capture the voice when its placed 2+ feet away from the person trying to talk (which is the case of my setup), in all these occasions I fall back to the Macbook Pro integrated mic or my wireless headset (which I use for most of my meetings anyway, hence not a big problem IMO). Nice webcam with a well-designed stand

Washingtonian AmazonianJuly 6, 2020

I needed a webcam for all of the conference calls that I'm doing while working from home, and this seemed like a good (available) candidate. Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed with the stand on this webcam. It's easy to focus all of your attention on the camera itself, but I've found that a poor quality stand/mount can become annoying very quickly. The mount on this webcam allows you to install it several different ways. The stand itself is heavy enough that the camera can simply "sit" on the desk or some part of your computer. You can unfold it partway, and hang it over the top of your monitor, or you can unfold it all the way and wedge it between things on your desk. There is also a threaded tripod mount, if you have a tripod of some sort to use. In the box with the camera you'll find a physical shutter that you can attach (stick on) if you feel more comfortable having something physical to block the shutter when the camera is not in use. I didn't bother -- I just unplugged the camera or set it behind my monitor. As for the camera itself, it's a pretty standard webcam. I plugged it in, and Windows 10 immediately detected it and configured it. The built-in Camera app in Windows allowed me to preview the image, fiddle with settings, and otherwise make sure everything was working. I did notice a slight bit of barrel distortion out at the edges of the image, but you're never going to be sitting against the edge of the image during a conference call, so it really doesn't matter. The middle 80% of the image looks fine. I participated in an assortment of Zoom and MS Teams calls, and the camera always worked just fine. The picture quality was very clear and bright, and the device itself never caused any issues for Windows. I guess webcams are one of those devices that either work or they don't, and this one simply does. It's hard to ask for much more than that. It gives you good image quality, and a really cleverly-designed stand that allows you to position it however you need. Read more
