Came damaged, works adequately
This is a simple plastic yarn winder, it’s a decent cost compared to similar items on the market. Biggest issue: the inner plastic gear and wheel weren’t aligned when I received it. The entire winder can come apart to fix but it is definitely not meant to be tampered with. The plastic is somewhat flimsy and the interior attachments are made with small half circle metal clamps that are impossible to remove and when you can remove them they are even more impossible to replace properly. Even so, I was able to pop the gears back in place and even without the clamp in place it still works adequately. Ruined a half skein of yarn in the process of trying to get it fixed but now it makes decent cakes. Read more
Budget-Friendly Yarn Winder That Gets the Job Done
The media could not be loaded. When I first opened the box, I was a little concerned about how “cheap” this yarn winder looked. It’s mostly plastic, with the exception of the handle and the yarn feeder. However, it installed on my countertop easily, and the clamp has a padded base to prevent any damage when tightened down- a thoughtful touch. The instructions were straightforward, but they didn’t mention whether the yarn needed tension while winding. I tested both methods- one cake with no tension and one with tension- and the difference was noticeable. I highly recommend applying light tension while winding for better results. Simply holding the yarn as it feeds into the guide worked perfectly for me. For reference, the light green yarn was wound with no tension, and the orange yarn was wound with tension. Do I recommend this? Absolutely! For the price, it works well and gets the job done. It’s a great budget-friendly option for anyone looking for a yarn winder. Read more
