She uses the detector to do a quick scan to see if there is anything hidden in her room. The detector is compact and lightweight, so it is easy for her to pack and take with her. The detector is easy to set up and use, once she is at her room. My wife feels safer and more relaxed once she has completed the room scan. Reviewing Hidden Camera Detector, This is an okay device. It found all the cameras I tested it on, in our house. The only issue is that it was random and sometimes the alert was delayed (it went off after I had already passed the camera). Unfortunately, if you are using this device, you most likely don’t know where the camera’s or listening devices are so you might not get the device at the right angle, or close enough to detect anything. I am rating 4 stars because it does work, but just know, unless you have the patience and the fortitude to scan every inch of a room, you could very easily miss some devices. Read more
I tested all four detection modes of this device. 1. The signal detector is really useless because it works very irregularly, sometimes just buzzing no matter how you direct it, sometimes working more or less correctly, but the frequency of buzzing sound does not depend on the distance from the transmitter of radio signal. The set of LEDs which is supposed to show intensity of radio signal does not work at all. Even if you take the detector 2 inches from WIFI router, the level of signal the detector shows is not more than 2 LEDs. 2. IR detection is working fine, allowing to detect the direction and intensity of the IR source. 3. Laser scanning also is working, but it's hard to discriminate a camera from reflection of the LEDs from other objects. I doubt that you'll be able to detect with this mode a camera behind one way transparent mirror (although I was not able to try this because don't have such mirror). 4 Magnet detection works only in very close proximity to the magnet to be detected (about 4-5 inches for really strong neodymium magnet). So, it's close to impossible to use it for finding any air tags or GPS trackers. Read more
I have tried so hard to figure out exactly how this device works. It seems simple enough, however, I'm never really quite sure which mode I'm in and in the one mode it just constantly detects my Wi-Fi. I've looked for additional instructions on how to use this and I haven't found anything that is user-friendly so for me it's not a good choice. Read more
I was a bit skeptical that this little device could detect cameras or other surveillance devices, so I put it to the test after I learned how to engage the different detection modes. It does come with a user guide. I first turned the camera switch on on each echo show and engaged the drop in feature. Next, I turned this device on in detection mode. It definitely located the cameras as I approached them and beeped incessantly. It also detected the camera I use to keep tabs on my dog when I am working from home in an upstairs office. I engaged the magnetic detection and scanned all around the outside of my car as well as inside and found nothing. It also detects signals from WIFI routers, access points and cellphones (2G. 3G, 4G, and 5G). I easily confirmed that as well. I am no sleuth, but when I am out in public, I would like to know when I am being watched. Security cameras are everywhere and expected, so I am not as concerned about those. Other places that I do not want to be watched include fitting rooms, swimming pool change areas, restrooms, shower areas, and hotel/motel rooms.
