I looked for something with NSF 42 and 372 Certifications and lowest price. My water is probably fine, as I imagine most everyone’s are these days but since the fridge has it, it is worth that extra layer and cost. I just made sure the model number is in the list. Easy to install. Just run water for prob 6 cups or so until the black carbon doesn’t change color anymore. I replace every 6 months but that might depend on how many people you have. Work fine with my whirlpool gold

I had been buying a slightly cheaper set of filters for my fridge. I believe they're no longer available and I found this as the most price effective solution to replace them. I installed the first one with no issues. As a caveat, we don't use the water dispenser. I assume it is something in the lines, but it has an off taste. Replacing the filters helps and I assume it keeps particulate out of the system, but the off flavor never went away. I don't even know if the ice maker water routes through this filter, but I assume it can't hurt at this price. In case it does, I want to keep a filter in, as the ice melts in your drinking water and taints it. You may not notice the off flavor if you're on city or county water. I'm on a well, which is very clean, so I do notice it, but it's mild. I've almost vommited at the amount of chlorine taste in some city water and would take this any day. Read more
