This backpack is smaller in real life than it seems in photos of both vendor and reviewers. There seem to be quite a few very happy reviews of people buying this for their 10/11 year old grandchild. I personally would be happy with the quality of it. It's really nicely made and the finishes on the seams are smooth and clean. But, there is NO WAY this could be used in the 5th grade. There's just too much stuff that needs to go in there. We were able to fit his 3-ring binder, a math book, and a book he was reading in the main compartment, and zipping it up was challenging. This bag would be the right size for a 2nd grader. The crossbody bag was quite small, in contrast to the photo on the listing. It's the size of those banana bags from Uniqlo and the like that are quite fashionable at the moment (2024). You could fit a phone, a wallet, and maybe a small water bottle in it. Read more
