I dug out the 60 year old Gilette razor and needed some blades. If you are older than 55, you remember when 'safety razor blades' were how you shaved- and a styptic pencil (and tissue) was always nearby for that expected nick. Those razors gave you a really close shave- that even today's 5 blade razors can't duplicate. So I needed blades for the gilette and chose these. They fit perfectly and the design is old school. The quality appeared good but the test is on your face. I used Castile soap, and it made the blade comfortable to use, and the shave was real close. Be careful; they are SHARP. They are a good value and the performance was excellent. Go slow when you shave- they are SHARP. Got five (5) fine shaves with it before I replaced the blade. Only criticism is that they come in a box and not in a plastic carrier that you can stick the used blades into to dispose of safely. Small thing..but in those old days wher men used a "safety razor" such plastic carriers were the standard. Times change. If you are into a really close shave, with a very SHARP blade, you found it here. Recommended. Read more

i’m still new to the double edge, razor journey. As a newbie, I started using these blades which were recommended by ChatGPT. They’re sharp enough to give a good shave, but not so sharp as to cause necks and cuts (I had this problem with some other more aggressive blades). I bought a bunch of them. They’re inexpensive so you can basically just throw them away after two, three or four shaves without feeling like you’re thrown away a lot of money. These may end up being my ultimate blade. Meanwhile, I continue to try others. By the way, I save every day. I’m spoiled by the multi blade razors and my brawn, electric razor and that I like a really really close shave. I get that with these blades without getting cutting the heck out of myself Read more
After decades of shaving I decided to try a DE razor. I have a Henson and it's been great, now I am looking for the best blade. ASTRA gets a lot of great reviews, and I can see why. They are very sharp and give a close smooth shave, but I did get some burn and a few nicks on my face; first time ever for that. These ASTRA's are from India and I don't know if they are significantly different from the ASTRA's from Russia. I'll keep looking for the blade that is close, sharp, smooth, comfortable and lasts. I bought this because I was traveling and forgot to bring my blades for my king c gillette safety razor so I ordered some blades I saw the astra platinum blades which I used in the past but it gave me a good shave but with the king c gillette safety razor it work incredible I shaved in the shower and it cut my hair like butter which I was very surprised how good it was I use gillette platinum which is my favorite blade and my go to blade to use but if there isn’t any to but the astra platinum is a good replacement to shave but it may shave me once or twice while gillette platinum can give me 2 to 3 or even 4 shaves out of it but these blades cost Pennies this pack for fifteen blades for 4.06 dollars for me so that’s 0.08 cents per blade on this deal which is incredible and gives a smooth shave easy. I recommended it to buy it and if astra gives me one or two shaves then it’s worth it most of these blades can get the max 5 uses but most don’t get that sharp and few can be dull but that’s ok get another one the next one should be better just get a good safety razor don’t get a cheap one the king c gillette is on the inexpensive side for 30 dollars which is inexpensive most safety razors are hundreds or more for the vest ones or vintage ones but king c gillette safety razor gives a mild and smooth shave with the right blade so these astras blades or really good if you are unsure get a sample pack that has two blades samples of astra but a pack of blades cost around a dollar or two so try it. Smooth as can be! As a new DE shaver I had already experienced a rough brand of blades. I approached the Astra cautiously. The first pass was so smooth and comfortable it felt like I was using a totally different razor. I'm sure I'll try other brands in time, but Astras will always be on hand. Oh did I mention very good price? Read more
