I ordered this razor thinking it would just be a typical basic razor like any other, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out. This razor somehow managed to give me a very smooth, close shave without causing any pain or irritation at all, especially when shaving my bikini area. I also felt very safe using this razor. It felt like even if I accidentally slipped, it wouldn't slice open my leg. I'm not sure how they managed to make the razor so effective, yet feel so safe. I would even go so far as to say the design of this razor is innovative and cutting edge, compared to others I've used in the past. It might be the best razor I've ever used, in fact- and I don't say that lightly. I really wasn't expecting it to be anything special to be honest, I just assumed I was going to receive a normal basic set of razors. It performed well when shaving under my arms, legs, and bikini area. There was no irritation, bumps, or cuts like I often get with my regular razor. I have been using another blade that has built-in shave gel but I’ve been disenchanted with how quickly they’ve been dulling lately. That competitor’s blade just isn’t worth the cost compared to these. My Athena blades have been far outlasting my old ones and they’re not messy like my old ones. I’m pretty amazed how such a small strip of gel can do so much too. I’m not sure if they intend for me to use additional shave gel, but I find I don’t need it, as long as my skin is wet. The only time I ever felt a tug was when I hit a dry spot. Otherwise, it’s such a smooth shave, with no irritation whatsoever. In addition to the high quality blade, the sharpness, the comfort and the ease of use, these razor handles look and feel really nice. There’s lots of options but so far the Rose and the Mint kits are my favorite colors. The style is very minimalist and sleek, with a nice combination of matte and shimmery shades. No gaudy, fake silver or gold here. Just bright and fun colors done in a subtle, pretty way. I get so tired of the usual pink/purple combo most companies think women (only) want. Athena’s colors are a really nice change to the boring norm. Plus the handle is light weight, but not too light. My first reaction upon opening was how cute it looked. i usually buy the cheap disposables so this is kind of new for me. Really wasn't sure if it would really be worth it. After using it a few times now I've come to the conclusion that yes it's worth it! First off the design of it, it just fits in my hand better than the cheap ones and makes it easy to get the curves and the backs of my legs. it just feels right in my hand! Secondly it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, I guess that's the infused lotion or whatever they put in it. You can tell when you're using it that it's gliding so much easier than other razors. In fact at first I was sure it wasn't cutting because it was so smooth, but it was. I also love the magnetic holder, it attaches to the shower wall with sticky tape and then holds the razor magnetically so it can drip dry. No more trying to rest my razor on the soap block! Love it! At $19.99 it may seem a bit much in the beginning but it does come with 5 blades so that will last a while and refills seem on the cheap side. In the long run it's not going to cost much more than using mid grade disposables and I'm going to get a better shave. Read more

I love everything about this razor kit. It's all in one - you get the razor itself, a magnetic hook, and 5 refills, which will last forever for someone like me who uses my blades all the way before replacing. I've never once nicked myself accidentally while using the razor because it's so gentle on my skin. It's easy to use in all those hard-to-reach places, as well. The hook keeps it from sitting on the edge of the tub, getting wet, which causes the blades to rust. Unlike some other razors, I don't have to go over the same areas several times when it's been a while since the last shave. Just one or two passes and all the hairs are gone, no matter how long they are! And it's winter, so you can imagine the kind of hair growth there is. I've also noticed that the razor never slips out of my hands when it's wet. That can be such a pain, and now it's no longer a worry. This kit is such a great deal, and it's my main razor now.
