Utility Soap with Luxury Aspects
The simple, beautiful advertising and favorable reviews first got me interested in trying this soap. I love trying out new soaps and have a full closet that is dedicated to the soaps I purchase. Lemongrass and Lemon Myrtle was the first scent I purchased from Australian Botanical Soap. I judge bared soap on 5 areas (see other soap reviews) and found the soaps from Australian Botanical Soap wonderful. Physical Shape and Size: The shape of the bar is a little thick, but perfect hand size. The ends of the rectangular bar might appear sharp, but they give pleasantly when wet and round off quickly making it easily used for gliding on body curves and nooks. User friendly right out the box. 4.5 of 5 stars here. Lathering Capabilities: The bar is not a heavy bubbly lather. I have used this bar only in soft water conditions and the lather is light and fairly creamy. It washes away easily, leaving a clean and soft feel. Lather comes down to preference, and though I like a little more lather than this bar gives the rich triple milled quality lets me make an exception to my preference. 4 of 5 stars. Scent: Australian Botanical Soap does it right (at least for the Lemongrass and Lemon Myrtle scent). It smells exactly like I thought it would, or it should, with a strong naturally lemongrass/lemon myrtle aroma that fills the shower and is light on your skin. Not enough to interfere with your favorite cologne or perfume, but not too weak, that if you go aux natural, you would not smell delightfully organic and clean. 4 of 5 stars. Skin Hydration: I have normal skin type and tend to get oily skin in the T-zone of my face. I also live in a desert, so, even with normal skin hydration, I have to pay extra attention to how soaps and lotions hydrate my skin. Unfortunately, despite high prices and brand names, many soaps leave my skin dry. Australian Botanical Soap was average with moisturizing my skin. The bar did not fully dry out my skin, but I did have to apply moisturizer creams on face and body after the shower though missing this step was not unbearable. 2.5 of 5 stars. Soap Quality: This soap is a nice 6.6oz (187g). It holds up pretty well in soft and semi-hard water conditions lasting up to a month and some days depending on your lathering preferences. Compared to other bar soaps, these bars wear down less than most others I have used both commercial and exclusive. And though this is hard to gauge as soap usage per person is different, there are two of us using the bar; I am a fair latherer; I take longer showers; and I assure my entire body is meticulously clean. With these factors, Australian Botanical Soap bars have lasted a month in harsher water conditions and a month and about 8 days in soft water conditions. 4 of 5 stars. With my five-aspect bar soap judging criteria out of the way, I did want to speak to some other aspects of this product. It comes packed in a cardboard box with the company logo on it and other soap/company information. The rich beautiful aroma of lemon grass is still present even after having some of the bars for over a year. Each bar is individually labeled, but each bar is not wrapped in the cardboard box (see picture). such. Australian Botanical Soap points out that their product contains no harsh chemicals, has a natural plant derived glycerin content with organic shea butter, triple milled, pure plant oil used for fragrance, no animal testing and the company is family owned. I highly recommend Australian Botanical Soap. They are quality, reasonably priced bars that bring aspects of luxury soap bars to an everyday utility bar. I look forward to trying other fragrances by this company. Seeing the concerns with dyes, the Lemongrass with Lemon Myrtle has titanium dioxide (which is a naturally occurring mineral), Mineral pigment (naturally occurring), and Iron Oxide (also naturally occurring and beneficial to skin) for its coloration. I can only speak for this fragrance, but according to the label, all ingredients are naturally occurring. Read more
