It says it works for PS5s but not mine for some reason. It just lights up and gives me a clicking sound. It won't show up on the PS5 external storage page either. I've browsed YT and Reddit and there's a lot of people with the same problem. Might as well buy an SSD instead lol. Edit: I returned it and they gave me a new one! And it works perfectly fine! They must've given me a wrong model or something, but everything is fine now! Read more
This is ostensibly an expensive paper weight. The Avolusion HD250U3 2 TB SSHD item description specifically indicates that it's formatted for the PS5 which is why I purchased it. However, it's clearly not compatible with the PS5. We followed all of the instructions, but the PS5 (which is-up-to-date) does not recognize it and so does not give the option to format the drive. We disconnected the VR system that was plugged into the other rear USB port, which did seem to allow the PS5 to recognize that a drive was connected. However, when we attempted to format the drive for use, we got an error message saying "something went wrong..." We even attempted to connect the drive to a PC to format the drive, but again, the drive was not readable. Unfortunately, when trying to make a return online, all of the prompts on Amazon indicate that it's not returnable once the package is open, which, of course, we HAD to open the package to find out that the drive doesn't work. Though, a quick call to Amazon's customer service line solved the issue with approval of the return and offered a refund. This is all a bummer because the drive seems to be made well and comes with a hefty cable. Read more
This storage device works great on my PS5. it stores PS5 and PS4 games perfectly but BE WARNED that you cannot play ps5 games that are on an external hard drive no matter what brand of hard drive you buy. I did not realize this when I purchased, but it is still so much faster and easier to move a ps5 game to storage when I'm not playing it, and to move it back when I want to play it again. You CAN play your ps4 games that are on your ps5 while they are on the hard drive so I just keep all my ps4 games on the drive for maximum space. Also it matches the color of my PS5 very well. Despite the slim design, the device is EXTREMELY helpful when you need more data storage space on your gaming console. Had to get this one for Christmas a while back, and boy does it do wonders for me and my sibling. I can’t also forget how fast you transfer much data of previously played games, just in case you want to do them again in the near future. The speed for that is amazing. Read more
My husband said that he likes these hard drives that he got for our kids for their PlayStation 5. He had a little bit of difficulty getting them to show up on the PlayStation 5. He ended up getting their PlayStation 4's out connecting the hard drive to the PlayStation 4 which showed the external hard drive once he formatted it on there then he went to the PlayStation 5 plugged it in and it showed up on the PlayStation 5. He tried every other way on PlayStation 5 and it wouldn't show up that was the only way for him to do it but once he was able to figure that out and get it formatted and to show up it was perfect. So the only issue with this is getting it to show up for the PlayStation 5 so unless you format it to another PlayStation like a PlayStation 4 it may not show up on your PlayStation 5 that would be the only issue otherwise they work perfectly fine once you get them formatted. It showed up on our computer and said that it was formatted but still wouldn't show up on the PlayStation 5 until after he formatted it to the PlayStation 4. Read more
