Comfortable, easily adjusted, secure. Perfect starter weights. Sufficiently comfortable that, after progressing to something heavier for workouts, you might even want to use these as "almost all the time" ankle weights. Because the way they are shipped is NOT the way you will use them, how to put them on may be a bit less than obvious until you read the instructions. Read more

As an aging adult with underlying medical issues I realized my legs were becoming weaker. I ordered these ankle and wrist weights to improve my leg strength and mobility. I wanted to be careful, so I ordered the 2 pound pair (I pound each). I have been pleasantly surprised. This is my experience: EASE OF USE: These weights are easy on/off, even for an older adult. I have been using them specifically on my ankles as my legs are rather weak and my hope is that with time, a consistent walking program, and adding these into my routine, my legs with become stronger. I have not had any problems getting them on, adjusting them, or removing them. QUALITY: These ankle and wrist weight appear to be very well made from quality materials. The weights do not slip, the stitching is well done, they are reasonably soft and there is adequate padding. FIT: These ankle and wrist weights are adjustable and deliberately manufactured to fit most adults. I am a larger size and my ankles swell, so I did have some concern as to whether these weights would fit my ankles. Happily they fit well, without chafing, rubbing or bruising. COMFORT: These weights are well padded and I have found they are quite comfortable to wear. BALANCE: As an older adult, balance is an issue. I did notice when I initially put them on that my balance was slightly affected. However, after several steps my body adjusted and I felt very stable and secure while walking. STRENGTHENING: I am new into wearing these, but I do notice the weight. I have started out slow and I will increase my walking distance and speed. It is also my hope to also add some stair climbing. GRIT: When these were initially unpacked they did leave some dark colored grit on my countertop and table. They still leave some grit behind but less than they initially did. I imagine with time and use the grit will diminish. For now I keep them in and empty shoebox. I will update this review as I progress. Meanwhile, I recommend this product. CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Clean with a damp cloth only. Never machine wash or soak. Thanks for reading :) Read more

I got this Bright Idea one day to wear ankle weights while walking my dog over the 5 Mile walks we go on at night. Figured I'd be like the guys from dragon Ball z in their gravity training chamber and I'd be able to slam dunk in no time. Unfortunately after 2 days it just feels like I was in a horrible car accident. Long story short really probably should have started with the 2 lb weights considering I'm lazy IT guy that doesn't do a whole lot for additional exercise. But I digress... The ankle weights themselves are made very well. The material is strong and durable and thick and I don't get the impression that they will rip or tear anytime soon. All the stitching and seams are flawless with no loose threads. There is an extra long velcro strap, making it easy to attach to your legs or arms. And the velcro itself is super sticky strong so there is no fear of them coming dislodged or loosening once you get them in place. So if you are not very familiar with exercise (like I was) I know 4 lb doesn't seem like a lot of weight but it affects you a lot more than you would realize. If you're starting out start small. At this price you could double up and still be paying less than the most inexpensive set at Academy. Read more
