BF2042 is the first game since BF4 to capture the spirit and formula of the original Battlefield games. I'm a veteran of the series since day one BF1942 and have played every BF game released. This game is the pinnacle of the series. The graphics are phenomenal, the gun play is tight and rewarding (once you get your settings dialed in) the vehicle play is pure over-the-top war action movie stuff. There are bugs here and there but on PS5 they are few and far between. If you ever wanted to play an Expendables movie this is the game for you. As for those who are whining about the game not being "like other Battlefield games" Dice/EA gave you the tools to make that experience for yourselves with Portal, go see what it has to offer. I just got back into first person shooter games after a long hiatus and was expecting to be blown away by this game and forcthe most part I was impressed.The game had alot of glitches that I know the manufacturer is correcting but the lack of hardcore mode on the main match screen is kind of a bummer,I was also hoping for more realist damage to structures around the map,other than that I was pretty pleased with this game purchase. As a long time Battlefield fan, going back to bad company… I was so excited about this game. I’m not gonna write a novel size review but, I will say that this game has been pure disappointment! I’m not a call of duty found but Vanguard is better than this. Hell even Cold War the campaign mode was very enjoyable with a good story. Felt disappointing because nobody played it online anymore. But this battlefield doesn’t even have a campaign mode. I always used to campaign mode to get myself used to the game and the game played before playing people online. They didn’t even bother putting in a story mode. The selection of operators is a hodgepodge of weird diversity woke style characters. But I could deal with that, the fact that there’s absolutely zero content to this game is a complete rip off. It’s online only, so you would think OK the online play would be really good right ? Wrong! Extremely glitchy the controls they changed and made ridiculously complicated just to make it complicated. I’m not gonna get into the long list of things that are missing from this game like a scoreboard for one and about 50 other things. I was disappointed on the first day and thought I just need to get used to it, I’ve been trying every other day I keep getting back onto it and wanting to like this game but honestly it’s pure garbage . The throwback to Bad Company three and 1942 and some of the other stuff that they offer is cool but it’s not like playing those games you basically play a version of it with the battlefield 2042 touch which makes it feel very lame and unenjoyable. There’s no hard-core mode but it seems like a lot of people can kill me with one bullet yet I dump 10 to 15 rounds in someone at point blank range and they still have 50% Health left before they kill me lol. I’ll keep it till it gets close to the return window and if I can’t get into this thing I’m gonna send it back. As it stands right now I feel like I wasted $70! Update: so it just keeps getting worse. This game is cross play meaning you can play with other consuls PlayStation, Xbox and so on. Was excited about it because I could play with my brother who’s on Xbox… well seems like none of us can figure out how to actually do it! You can’t find each other from screen names, I was told maybe EA act screen name and you can find a friend? But it gets even worse… earlier in my review I mentioned in the non- portal hard core modes, just the regular game online play, I would get killed with one bullet where I would dump 15 rounds and not get a kill. Well it’s because you’re in there with a bunch of PC players who have hacked the game. Yes cross play allows PC players to play as well . Cross play in my opinion should be limited to consuls only no PC which is extremely easy to hack… can you turn cross play off, yes you can but you will be sitting in a portal by yourself with nobody online. Why am I still trying to like this game??? SMH Last Update: RETURNED FOR REFUND… I tried, I really did. Tried so hard to like it, but it was just a bad, boring, glicthy, and lame game. Even if you can get into it and playing (which I did kinda after finder rite server's) it gets extremely boring very quickly. Unlike battlefield 3/4 which I could play for hours on end, day after day if I had the time. This game has been getting a ton of hate, and quite honestly most of it is well deserved. Yet as someone who bought the game day 1 and has been playing it the game doesn't deserve the hyperbolic hate people like to give. If you like Battlefield then you will like this game. I am a huge Battlefield fan I wanted to love this but I still have had hours of enjoyment out of this. I sound like I am defending this game just to defend it. The game is mediocre for a AAA title. There aren't that many maps and on multiple occasions I have had a game breaking glitch where I can't pick a loadout or even spawn. The game also explains nothing with the mandatory bot match that you do to learn the game. My first two real matches I felt like someone who was missing half a hand trying to play because I had no clue how to switch classes or how to add a scope to my gun. The game also wanted to cash in on the character multiplayer thing that just won't go away. Instead of customizing your character, or just having generic solider... because it's a FPS. They have these characters you must pick that all have their own special abilities. I find it just ridiculous and would make some sense if there was a campaign like Vanguard had, but instead they are just "colorful" characters that all must quip. Even I did a lot of complaining there I will still say the moment you get into the match this is Battlefield. It is exactly what I want out of the game. Each time you take out a squad you feel like a champion. My personal favorite is blowing up a tank/vehicle because I know I just wrecked someone's day. Again don't listen to the hyperbolic hatred on the internet. If you like Battlefield this is a game for you. If you never played it I'd say rent/borrow this game and see if it is up your ally. The great things now since the internet complained so much you know EA is going to give this game the same treatment they gave Battlefront 2. Read more

I remember buying this and being somewhat disappointed at launch but hanging in there and playing now I am happy to say that this is a Battlefield game worth playing for years. Read more
