We needed to soften our too-firm mattress, and this topper worked perfectly for that. It’s a dual-layer topper, meaning you get a 2-inch memory foam base with a 1-inch soft, quilted down alternative pad on top. The two pieces are held together by elastic straps at the corners, as well as the elastic of the "pillow top". At 3 inches total, it’s pretty thick and definitely adds plush comfort. The memory foam itself to me is more plush than firm, providing good support as it cushions without sinking in too much. Keep in mind, adding three inches to your mattress may mean you need to get sheets with deeper pockets. Ours was already a thick mattress so our sheets fit just fine with this topper. Personally, I think it would’ve been absolutely perfect if it were 2 inches total instead of 3, but that’s just my opinion—my husband, on the other hand, loves it just the way it is. One thing I was really happy about is that there was very little smell when I first opened it. That’s a huge plus for me because I’ve had some toppers in the past with strong chemical odors that took days to air out. This one barely had any at all. It also fluffed up quickly coming to its full thickness is little time. I also really like that the elastic goes all the way around the topper so it stays securely in place and doesn’t shift, no matter how much we toss and turn. The only real downside is that the top pad and the foam base aren’t attached to each other. Because of that, the two layers can get a bit misaligned, mostly from getting in and out of bed. It doesn’t move around while you’re sleeping, but you may find yourself adjusting it occasionally to get it lined back up. That said, I think it was probably designed that way on purpose to make the top pad easier to wash, so it’s not a dealbreaker—just something to keep in mind. This 2" memory foam matress topper is so comfy. It's like sleeping on a marshmallow. Fantastic! Now there is a huge problem with the pad and memory foam not being attached to each other. The foam slides to one side and bunches up on another. It's highly disappointing as it is so comfy. I've had this on for about a month and I have to fix the foam daily. Quite disappointed.
