Wow - finally a sleep mask that says 100% Light Blocking - and IT IS! I've tried multiple sleep masks and this one has my favorite combination of features. The light blocking feature cannot be emphasized enough - so many masks let light filter through once the room starts lighting up. Or a mask may stay dark until that sun is coming in the window. Not this one. Seriously - there's NO light coming through, or around the edgesof the mask. I put it on in daylight, and held my phone light right up against it - nothing! Something new for me - the entire mask is literally made of formed foam. It's like a cloud on your face. The surface feels very smooth and soft, so perhaps that's fabric over the foam? A guess, as I'm not a foam expert. (It's a similar feel to a removable bra pad.) That foam is why the mask blocks light. The contouring around the edge is a just-firm-enough foam that gets much softer over and around the nose, as it should for comfort, but it helps keep light out around the nose. I'm a side sleeper so the width of only 8.3" is a bonus for me. The raised foam edge doesn't push against the pillow and shift the mask - not only is that uncomfortable, but it lets light leak in around the edge. The very soft elastic band is adjustable across it's entire length of about 14". I tend to put the mask on and then adjust it - the first night I did adjust it once during the night. I mention that to demonstrate how easy it is to adjust while wearing it. This is definitely my new go-to mask, especially when summer rolls around and that very bright morning sun is shining into the room! It's no longer going to decide when I wake up, I am! But I can see going to a mask that filters some light on occasion, when I'd like to be gently woken with the light - 'cause sometimes one has to get up early, like it or not! This sleep mask is priced at $14.99, which hasn't changed since I ordered it in mid-November. I wasn't sure if I would like this one. I've tried contoured masks before, and they made me feel like I was wearing goggles to sleep, which I didn't like at all. The pressure and bulk just felt uncomfortable and unnatural. But this one was super nice and completely changed my mind about contoured masks. It works as a great blackout mask. The contour design creates a seal around your eyes without pressing on them, which I think helps block light much more effectively than flat masks. It's also really lightweight at only 0.73 oz, so you barely feel it on your face. I can open my eyes and blink freely with the mask on, which is a huge plus. The memory foam conforms comfortably without feeling restrictive. Sometimes I like to have light pressure on my eyes when I sleep, but when I don't want that, this is perfect. The strap is very adjustable, so you can get the fit just right without it being too tight or too loose. The packaging is pretty minimalistic, which isn't a bad thing. It includes a couple of stickers and wax ear plugs as a bonus, which is a nice touch. Does it stay on while I sleep? No idea; I tend to take these things off in my sleep with my own hands, so that's a me problem, not a mask problem. Care is easy; it has gone through the washer on cold and delicate with no problems, and I hang it to dry. I was never a person who needed a sleep mask until I met my partner. He can't sleep with the TV off and I can't sleep with the TV on! The perfect compromise is a sleep mask. I have tried so many different ones. The thinner, silky ones always slip off my face and cause gaps where light gets in. I tried some really expensive ones, but they were massive and made me sweat. Then I tried this mask. It's the perfect blend of the things I like. It's a silky material, so it's comfortable and doesn't cause eye wrinkles. It's very soft since it's filled with memory foam. It's adjustable and easy to get a secure fit. No gaps are left, so no light gets in. It did make me sleep a little warm, but it wasn't unBEARable. :) This mask came in the cutest packaging. It has a zipper bag to keep it clean and neat when you travel. It came with some adorable brand stickers. It also comes with a pair of waxy earplugs with their own case. I recently traveled and used the mask, but not the ear plugs yet, so can't review those. Overall, this is one of the best sleep masks I have tried so far. Read more
