This is a really disappointing dress. And it’s not the dress’ fault, either. Usually, my wife is really good about intuitively knowing which brand and what cut is going to warrant a small vs. a medium. She’s right on the edge between those two sizes, and somehow—as if by magic—she almost always guesses right. This time, she guessed wrong. To be fair, Amazon’s algorithmic AI size assistant thing says she was correct to order this in a small. But you can’t trust the robots, and she should have known better. She should have ordered a medium. Anyway, this is only a big loss because the dress is so nice. It really is a stunner. The “Purple Floral Yellow” design is very alluring, and the dress nails it on both form and function. It even has pockets. Pockets! I usually don’t care too much when something doesn’t fit. My wife usually doesn’t, either. It happens. But this time, she’s a little bummed out. Me, too. Order up. As someone who is 5 feet tall and 115 lbs, it is so hard for me to find dresses that do not drag on the floor. Most midi or maxi styles overwhelm my frame, but this Belle Poque summer floral dress fits perfectly in a size small. The length is honestly perfect for short women. I can wear it with heels for a dressier look or sandals for something more casual and it still hits at a really flattering spot. Dresses and skirts comprise most of my wardrobe, but because I'm used to them I'm a little bit picky now. How does this one stack up? Well... The Good: •The pockets are real pockets! Always a big plus. •The design is exactly as pictured in the listing, so no surprises await you. •There is a defined waist, as photos show, which adds a lot to the style and makes it much more flattering than the free-flowing fabric dresses, in my opinion. •There is a small amount of stretch, as well as a side sipper, a stretchy material on the back, and button-adjustable straps - all of which make this dress a lot more size inclusive, and much easier to keep as a wardrobe staple even if your weight fluctuates. •Not see-through! Despite light colors. The Bad: •Not the best for chesty girls, because the amount of fabric in the chest section of the dress isn't very generous. I'm about a 36D and didn't feel my chest was accommodated in the size L. •The fabric is not a quality fabric; it's that printed-on-one-side, kind of silky-feeling, thin fabric that wrinkles easily and reminds you of purchases from Shein or Temu. •There are straps, but their placement isn't good enough to allow you to wear a strapless with it. The Takeaway: This is a pretty cute dress, and the pockets and cut are awesome - but it's not a high quality fabric, and the chest area may not feel adequate for women with larger chests. Read more
