I sometimes drink bird’s nest beverages so I was very excited to see this offered on Amazon Vine in a skincare form. They are expensive because they're rare and it takes a very long time to harvest and process. It’s a delicacy in my (Asian) culture. The brand BI-SU ethically sources from authentic swiftlet nests from Borneo, Malaysia that are no longer in use by the bird. Bird’s nests are said to have these benefits: high collagen, anti-aging effect, skin lightening/brightening, anti-acne, nourishing, and more! Packaging is clean and sleek in a white and gold theme. The cap and body is made out of plastic. It uses a pump to dispense. It came inside the manufacturer's box written in Japanese. They attached a label over the original language with English translation for the list of ingredients and direction. Consistency is thin and mostly watery. It’s slightly thickened, which makes it easier to apply with my fingers. I pump it into my left palm and use my right hand fingers to dip into it. I prefer to apply it directly to my face without the assistance of cotton balls. Fluid is transparent with a yellow hue. Unsure why the bottle is labeled as lotion. It’s more like an essence. It’s a little sticky when freshly applied but it goes away and leaves my skin soft. The smell is subtle and herbally like lavender. It quickly dissipates so don’t worry if you are sensitive to scents. For $100 it didn’t even come sealed with a wrapper or sticker. No expiration date either, but that might be in Japanese so I cannot read it. I also can’t find how many months to toss it out after opening. Most skincare is 12 months but some with a lot of natural/organic ingredients it’s shortened to 6 months. So far I haven’t experienced any skin irritation or other negative effects. I haven’t witnessed any miracles yet either. My skin did not stay looking dewy as it says in the description (*edit/update*: it’s more dewy now that it’s summer and humid). My first impression wasn’t great because I hyped it up in my mind. I was probably expecting instant results, which is unrealistic. I will be patient and update my review after using it longer. I had never tried any product with birds nest essence before picking up a couple of products of this brand. I know the ingredients take time to harvest and to locate and that drives the price up significantly. Still, for a product at this price point, I was surprised to see it come in a cheap plastic bottle that’s honestly of lower quality than most in a beauty supply store. I figured that was just the packaging and I should save my judgement for the product. Unfortunately the product was more disappointing. It’s listed as a lotion, and yet what comes out of the bottle has the consistency of water- not even a serum. It absorbed relatively well but didn’t leave my skin feeling any different. I tried it consistently to see if I noticed any positive effect and I did not. Overall a very disappointing experience. Read more

I agree with the other reviewer who said it's more like a serum than a lotion and even then, I just didn't like the way it felt. I do also have the serum and hand cream from this brand and I liked those products but I don't like this lotion. It's just a weird watery consistency and doesn't feel moisturizing. Read more

This BI-SU Bird Essence moisturizing lotion is ultra-lightweight, kind of like a toner and it has a very light herbal(?? Not sure) fragrance. You are suppose to apply a moderate amount of this on to your face right after washing it. I advice is to put this on your skin wet, it will help lock in more hydration. I’d also let it dry on your face fully before moving on with your skincare routine. This lotion feels super hydrating and refreshing when you first put it on. My face feels more firm and plump after it dries. I’d suggest using about two to three pumps to really feel the effect of this essence lotion. Overall, I personally consider this a really good toner over a lotion. But, I still appreciate it and it’s hydrating powers. Haha Read more

I thought this was going to be more of a lotion and creamy instead of watery in texture. The bottle says this was a lotion but I feel like this is probably more of like an ampoule, serum, or essence. It was hard getting over the liquidy texture as I was expecting something more solid. It did go on smoothly and leave my face soft but I did have to follow up with a moisturizer to keep my face hydrated. Read more

I have recently tried the other products by BI-SU with good results but this moisturizing lotion is more of a mixed bag for me. First off, it is a clear liquid, too watery to be called a lotion. Nevertheless, I applied it to my skin and let it absorbed. It felt a little sticky initially and slightly hydrating. Other that that, it didn't seem to do much for me. It has a little smell to it but very mild and not unpleasant. This comes in a tall pump bottle. The pump dispenses a burst of liquid rather than a mist, so you should pump it into your hand and then apply it to your face. It comes packaged in box with Japanese texts but there is an English product label on it. Overall, this is just decent at best. For the high price, I would have expected more than just moderate hydration. A mixed bag for me. Read more

The media could not be loaded. For the price, this was disappointing. The scent is slightly medicinal (the best way I can think of to describe it), very faint and short lived. It doesn't feel like a hydrating lotion on my skin. It feels more like a sticky serum. The consistency is not much thicker than water. I didn't noticed any improvements in my skin after using it. This BI-SU Bird's Nest Extracted Essence is a clear watery essence. It is pretty much like the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, not the normal lotion people would think of. I apply this after the toner as a lightweight serum in the morning. It absorbs super fast and moisturizing enough for the summer. I have oily sensitive skin and this is not greasy or irritating for me. A little bit pricey as a toner though. Read more
