I got the 6-cup green Rainbow Moka Pot. Bialleti rate their pots in espresso servings. My wife and I use the Moka when we want to make milk drinks. A 6-cup machine is about right for brewing 2 American-style coffees with milk. So this pot can brew anything from 2-6 servings depending on your usage. The green 6-cup Rainbow has a design that's a blend of retro and contemporary. It looks gorgeous alongside a classic KitchenAid blender if you like a slightly retro kitchen. It's an absolute piece of art, and it makes good coffee. Moka coffee historically was quite bitter due to boiling pre-ground dark Italian coffee quite hard. This lead people to call it "espresso". Moka is not brewed under much pressure, so it's not true espresso. What you get is a very concentrated small serving of coffee which draws strong flavors from the bean. If I brew the same coffee back to back in the Moka versus an Aeropress, the Aeropress is smoother and more balanced, but the Moka explodes with flavor like an espresso shot. They're very different experiences. My recipe for light roast: Grind coffee medium-coarse as for Aeropress. Put freshly boiled water in the base, use a towel to close. Heat pot over medium-low heat with lid open. Watch until pot sputters. Closw lid and run cold tap water down the side to arrest boiling. Pour into 2 mugs. For black coffee, dilute with water to taste. For milk drinks, do the same, and top with milk. Frother optional but recommended. I love the Moka Pot. They're very beautiful so you want to display it on your shelf. They're a little finicky if you want to get the best coffee from them, especially from lighter roasts. The Moka was designed for pre-ground dark roasts, which brew much more easily but produce an offensively bitter coffee to my tastes. If you instead use a good fresh ground specialty coffee and manage your heat, you can get an "espresso-like" cup for a fraction of the cost. Great for small shots or milk drinks. Highly recommended. Absolutely love this. Had a cheap 1 cup that I liked, got it for camping. Definitely not enough coffee. I grabbed this guy and it is my favorite coffee maker. My espresso machine has a layer of dust now and abandoned my coffee maker. It is super simple to set up and make. I love the taste of the coffee out of the moka pot. The quality of this moka pot is superb and I definitely tell the difference between it and the cheap 1 cup I have. Would choose this product again. Read more

It, like all Bialetti's, works really well. To me it's easy, but I know for some people they find it slightly complicated. It helps to always use it on the same place on the same burner so you can control everything more easily. The handle is plastic so you want to keep that facing the outside of your burner. It is a good value for the money. I know it feels kind of pricey, however it's so pretty and makes such good coffee, it's kind of a "you get what you pay for" thing. When you clean it, I rec not using a lot of soap, mostly focus on quickly getting off any coffee or coffee oil. It's easy to get soap stuck in the "basket" so rinse that out a lot. I also don't think it works well to smash a ton of coffee in there, you need roughly 3 cubic cm of air in the basket. Fill the water to half way across the bolt in the well. Enjoy! Read more

So esentially I agree with many of the other reviews. This is a great, well built and really cute italian moka. I love the design and color so much, and the resulting coffee is virtually the same as using a classic Bialetti moka, which is a very delicious and creamy coffee. The only problem with it it's the feather, which is poorly and loosely incrusted in the pot's lid, and what's worse, is made of plastic (and not particularly strong one), so it is really easy to accidentally detach it from the pot. This feather is a really cute element of the pot, and it's also the only way of opening the lid without touching it when it's hot. At least it doesn't seem to be affected by the heat after two months of daily use, we'll see over time. For me, the feather thing is not a major issue, but it is kind of annoying that they didn't think that through. The classic moka is just completely sturdy, compact and durable in all of its elements and I wish this was the case with the Alpina. Anyways, I still love it so much and I do recommend it, just keep that detail in mind. Read more

Why did I wait so long to get one of these. I gave my Keurig away the day I got this. Excellent Italian quality. Italians never make crappy products. The coffee is so good. Smooth, full bodied and HOT. None of that cheap chemical luke warm crap from the PODS. I am so happy with this. Everyone should make coffee this way. Read more

I am REALLY disappointed with Bialetti s quality control with this particular Moka Rainbow pot. Have gone through 2 and they both have the same issues. Leaking water from the bottom of the top right around the seal. I went through ALL the trouble shooting steps. Reseating the gasket and filter (Primula). Wetting the filter. Tightening (yeah very first thing I tried when making the first pot) the top and bottom as tight as it goes. And this last one after all those steps I purchased a new set of gaskets and filter. Nothing. It leaks and leaks as water goes up the funnel. I have 6 other Moka pots. 4 are Bialettis. Have been using this brand for years. Thoroughly disappointed that Bialetti has put out such a bad product. Shame I really liked the color and the way the top is more rounded so it shouldn't get as hot. Wouldn't know since I never got to brew a whole pot due to the leakage. So for the second time back it goes. Buyer beware Also made in Romania....I am sure on the cheap. Read more
