I was looking for a replacement for another brand of lighter that's similar to these BIC's. Could not find a good deal on them so I decided to try the BIC brand. Was a little hesitant based on some of the reviews but after having received and used them several times, I can't find any issues with them. After opening the package, I immediately tried all 6 of them. None of them failed to ignite or produce a flame. Since then, I have used two of them to start fires in the fireplace and they have performed as they should. Once in a while, they will not light on the first click but usually do on the second try. Can't comment on longevity because I haven't had them long enough to run through all of the gas on any one of them. It was nice not to have to remember to pick up lighters, because I forget every time I’m in town. I put these in my emergency kit. It was fast shipping and simply hassle free. There is not much to say about lighters, they are compact and fit well in the kit for emergencies. Read more

Update to my below review. Interesting, as the lighter was used, it performed better. Now lights with only 2-3 clicks of the igniter button. Who knows!?!? But I'm now happy! Great wand length for lighting candles and comfortable push igniter vs those awful metal ridged wheel igniters on some lighters. Also, my husband smokes a pipe and and finds the wand much easier to use. The colorful laminated designs are nice too. However...after about a week or so, it stops igniting! I tried pushing the igniter button numerous times but no flame. I actually removed the laminate design cover to see if there was still fluid inside. It was more than half full. So I shook it a few times, turned it upside down for a minute, and tried again. Took about 5-7 pushes and it finally lit! Annoyingly, this has to be done too often. So if this continues with every lighter (I bought 2 boxes of 6), then I sadly won't be buying them again. Bic should troubleshoot the problem and correct it. Read more
