I read the reviews about this blender and was shocked because I've been using or years and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND IT WORKS GREAT, but having read all of the reviews, I now understand what the problem is. The blender is great for smoothies, but probably not for much else. Every other day I make a Green Synergy Smoothie. I add frozen bananas, frozen berries, raw spinach, a scoop of green synergy from Quixotica, some other health powders, milk, and apple juice. I start off with the "blend" mode first, and then move on to press the "liquify," mode. My smoothie comes out perfect every time, and afterwards, I pour in a cup and dash off to work. The problem with most users who say the blender is awful is that they are trying to blend hard food products like uncooked raw carrots. While the blender has several different modes, including a "chop" mode, I must admit I never use it for all of that. If you are looking for something to do all of that, THEN YES, you should definitely purchase something more high-in, like a vita-mixer. However, FOR SMOOTHIES ONLY, THE BLENDER WORKS GREAT AND I HAVE BEEN USING FOR YEARS AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN ANYTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!!!! Unbelievable value. We own 2 Ninjas (bought at $99). Both Ninjas have broken lids (that we have to finesse so the blender can work). As a contingency we bought this Black and Decker. It is all we use now. We have smoothies for breakfast and we didn't realise that the Ninja was not actually making smoothies - just blending material - until we bought this. Even if we use the Ninja (it was bigger capacity) - we are willing to do the extra clean up by putting the blended material from the Ninja so it can be transformed into a smoothie. It is easy to clean, has very few points of failure and works great. The only draw back is the capacity. At 6 versus the 9 cups of the Ninja it's just not big enough for our family but like I mentioned we have work arounds for that. Great product. Great value. Read more

We tried two other more expensive models that both got returned for excessive noise and in one case excessive walking as well. (It attempted to walk off the counter while making a milkshake and sounding like a jet engine so back it went) This model has made several milkshakes successfully without causing extreme migraine levels of pain. I haven't tried chopping ice in it but I did chop up some frozen strawberries and bananas with success. It's easy enough to clean. The lid feels a bit flimsy and light but so far it is working like a champ at what it is designed to do so I'm adapting. The red color is inoffensive in our kitchen where next to nothing is the same color anyway. Read more

It works just the way I need it to, and much better for something as low-priced as it is. The glass pitcher has thick walls, so I'm not worried about ice chipping away at it, and the collar holding the blender blade to the pitcher doesn't seem like it's gonna crack any time soon. Probably because I'm not gripping it like my life depended on it when I'm removing it. There's a little bit of a smell that comes off the motor, but that's just the usual "electric motor" smell you get with everything. I'm not cramming the entire contents of a whole produce aisle into it, so its probably not going to burn out on me. On that note, only problem I have is that it doesn't crush ice all the way sometimes. But that may be more the size of the ice cubes than anything else. Read more

I was a bit disappointed that this arrived a day late, but am still very pleased with this blender. I have been giving it a pretty rough workout making smoothies and slushy's for my sick Mother. I love how the lid has great suction on it and I don't have to worry about it flying off and I have to clean the ceiling, walls, etc. The blades are great. I also like the quick start instructions that really help you get the hang of making your smoothies. This is new to me. Very easy to clean and fits nicely on the counter so I can have it on hand in a minutes notice. I wasn't really expecting a blender for $25 to be as nice as this is or as tough as it is. I am ordering one for my home in Alabama. I hate dragging things back and forth from Alabama to Louisiana when I am having to take care of my Mom. At this price you just can't beat it. My mother really likes the color. It just so happens it matches her mixer. Read more

Updating my review now that I've finally used this blender. Honestly, I should have tried it when it first arrived. It's quite awful and I would have returned it for its inability to blend. I tried making smoothie, for which it has a button. Well, it just whirrs without having much effect on what's in it. The little flat blades don't do much. Even the "Ice Crush" button did nothing to the mostly-frozen fruit. I had to chop up the fruit by hand to get anything useful to happen and even then, the blades spin at the bottom of the blender without so much as stirring the liquid above them. I thought maybe they were stuck on fruit, but sticking a spoon down into the blender definitely verified that they're spinning. It's just not a good blender. My original review was: There is a cord wrapping area, but it's completely useless. There's nowhere to put the plug -- it doesn't tuck in -- so the blender does not sit flat when the cord is "wrapped". It teeters and is easy to tip if the jar is attached. And because the cord is short, there's no way to wrap it tight enough that it stays in place. Read more

I was a bit concerned when I got this and there was only one blade - I was like "oh no, this is not going to do the job!" because I had used a roommate's blender for my shakes which had two blades. So I just now tried it and OMG - did the job like a champ! Don't blow your money on a high priced item - listen kids they all do the same job! This is AWESOME - best money spent!!!
