Replacement Filters
Updated review. Ugh. While I hate the fact that the replacement filter takes so long to get, it turns out that the issue is NOT with the filter but a dirty sensor. Right above the filter bay, there's a sensor that needs to be cleaned every 2 months or when the sensor seems to be reading high. To clean it is relatively easy, but does require q-tips to do so. The filter itself did not appear to be dirty by any stretch of the imagination. The wife does have an allergy to some dust; and this filter has worked the BEST of any that several sorts of air cleaners that I have tried. If I could justify the price tag, I'd buy another. But it is pricey. I don't recall seeing a manual provided with the device; but did find the one here on Amazon. But I'm a guy; most guys don't read manuals. I should have re-read the manual a time or two more than I did. The air filter works GREAT, albeit a bit annoying at times because it likes to turn the fan speed up to 4 when the lights come on. Wife noted how it reacts to smells from the bathroom, or from the kitchen or food in general . 2 of the 4 filters are washable thus don't need to be replaced; rinse out and let them dry before putting the filters back in. That 4th filter - well, it will require replacement.. The advertising is weird because it advertises 2160 hours; like who in their right mind measures filter life in hours ? It's 90 days; stop trying to be a smart aleck vendors. What you won't find in the advertising is that it's ALMOST impossible to get the filter within 2 weeks probably closer to 4 weeks. And for the privilege of waiting, you'll pay just a tad over $50 for that single filter element. Go elsewhere, and you'll see prices topping $135. Once that filter starts to reach it's 90 day age, the meter on the device starts to climb. 20, then 30, then 40 then 50.. Once beyond 60 or 70, the unit will start to run at fan speed of 2 or 3 --which means it gets considerably noisier and well, it's extra wear and tear on the unit. ( This may have been caused by the dirty sensor; who knew ? ) Do yourself a favor - get extra filters within a month of buying this device. If one could get the replacement filters, it would not be that bad. Actually a washable filter of 9x13x1.6 is nearly impossible to source; While I rewrote this part to be not as severe, it's still on the vendors to support the products that they sell. It should not take two weeks to get a filter shipped. Final notes: Be sure to clean that pesky dust sensor; the instructions are on the back of the device or in the manual. Be sure to pick up a spare filter in case you need to change it out; it should not take 2 weeks for a simple filter to be shipped out. Unfortunately, I could not find the filter locally. Diligence: perform your due diligence when choosing an air cleaner; see if you can get filters; while researching replacement filters, I saw another $1200 air cleaner- where one can buy the cleaner, but the only filters available are used filters at $134 . Yes, that's right, used air filter elements for a $1200 air cleaner. Read more
