Our original jar had no problems after 3 years and over 1300 cycles, but we experienced too much cavitation (meaning that some ingredients would stay at the top rather than being sucked down to the bottom). We always put a lot of veggies into our drinks, so we were often forced to blend in two or three stages. And there were sometimes lumps left in it at the end. The new Wild Side blender solves the cavitation problem almost completely because of the extra room at the bottom and the much larger blade. (It helps to use the pulse button a couple times before using the smoothie button.) It blends much more smoothly, with no lumps. The new jar is also much easier to clean because it isn't as cramped at the bottom. It's designed really well. The top opening is virtually the same size as the original jar, believe it or not. It's the rest of the jar that's larger, particularly the bottom. It doesn't really look any larger than the original jar when placed on the the blender and it doesn't take up any more room on the counter. For anyone resisting it because of the price, it might be a false economy to save the money. For one thing, it will last for hundreds or even thousands of uses. But the key thing for us is that the Blendtec is something we use every single day, often several times a day, so we want it to perform as perfectly as possible. Another benefit is that we find ourselves putting more veggies and nuts into it because it blends things up so well, which means we get more nutrition each day. That's worth a lot to us. This jar costs about the same as one visit to the grocery store. We procrastinated for months on buying the Wild Side because of the expense and the fact that our original jar was still operating fine. Now we wish we had bought it three years ago. Read more

I've had a Blendtec since 2008. Unfortunately the original jar I had started leaking and I was outside the warranty period to get a new jar from the company (boo!). I opted to pick up the WildSide Jar model with the extra side and have been totally satisfied. This jar works so much better than the standard four sided jar. I primarily use my Blendtec to make smoothies. I pack the jar full with all the ingredients at one. I’ve done my research and I know how to stack them to assure they blend well (liquids/soft items on the bottom, frozen stuff on top). With the original four-sided jar I often had to stick a spoon or spatula or something into the jar to get my smoothie moving after the first blend or two. An air pocket would form in the middle and the half blended smoothie would stop blending. I didn’t buy a Blendtec to have to fuss with my smoothie blending. I bought it because the high powered motor, special jar and blade were supposed to do the work for me. Was having to stick a spoon in to release the air pocket in the middle that kept it from moving all that onerous? No. But it was still annoying and added to the time it took to blend since I’d have to do at least 2 if not 3 smoothie setting cycles to get it smoothed. The WildSide Jar has completely taken care of that. I pack my smoothie the exact same way into the WildSide Jar. Once I hit the smoothie button it just goes. The smoothie keeps moving and it’s blended perfectly with one smoothie setting blend. My old jar also started to look kind of gross after a while. I neglected to follow the instructions after a year or so and started cleaning it out with a bristled brush. Do not do this. The jar really does clean itself if you rinse it, put some soap in and fill it halfway with water, and then use the soup setting to let it swirl and clean. The water gets even hotter on this setting, so you can be sure it did clean up the inside. I give it a rinse to get the soap out and just use my fingers to rub down the area where the lid may trap some leftover blender product in the jar. The new Wildside Jar has kept its new, pristine look this way. Next time I need to replace the jar for my Blendtec (hopefully years and years down the line like my first jar) I would definitely repurchase the WildSide Jar model. Read more

I bought a Blendtec that came with the Four Side jar and needed something bigger. This is a great alternative jar. It is the same height as the Four Side, but wider. I use this jar to make ice cream, salsas, and smoothies. I only wash mine by hand which can be done under the faucet or just add a tiny drop of soap with a cup of water and blend it clean. It will blend fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts so that they are nothing but a paste or liquid. If you want your food to have a more chopped texture, use the pulse option on your blender. I am taking off one star because this jar will pit. I have not had any problem with seeds or nuts, but the jar wound up pitting at the lower 2 inches of the sides and bottom because I blended whole raw eggs in it with the shells to make dog food. I was very surprised at the scratched surface and could not figure out what caused it at first, but Amazon was great in getting me a replacement jar. If you grind egg shells or grains, make sure you have a separate jar for that. I called Blendtec about this issue and they said it is not dangerous to use the jar even if it pits. Other than that issue, I feel this is a good investment if you have a Blendtec and need an additional jar. Read more

My blend Tec was making all sorts of noise. I thought it was the base. My husband said no and told me to order the top. Runs like a new blendtec. Very happy! Read more
