Beautiful colors, easy to clean and hangs well in super windy locations. We have 2 hummingbirds that come every year and I wanted something to replace the other glass one that didn't have a perch for them on it and this was it! I liked it so much we got one for my MIL for mother's day(they've never had hummingbirds) and within a few days they had some show up. No leaking with the seal around the bottom tray (top is painted metal, bottom is plastic) is easy to take apart and the opening is big enough you can get a brush inside to scrub if needed. (I use an old baby bottle brush). The top metal is welded well, it held up well the 1st summer with little signs of wear aside from some small rust areas that were scuffed from the raw glass edge. The media could not be loaded. Yes, there are about 30,000 different glass hummingbird feeders available on Amazon! It's worse than trying to choose toothpaste or socks. I was looking for something simple, attractive, not-too-big, not-too-small so... I ordered a 25-ounce Sunset Red feeder from the Grete Gotye store. What a great choice that turned out to be! The feeder is well made with no imperfections in the glass or the base. It assembles easily and is the perfect size for me. I wanted to have a place for a couple buzzy-feather friends to come sit and sip- not a nectar tub for a hundred birds to create their own colony and social order! I fill the feeder about 3/4 of the way (roughly 16 ounces) with Perky Pet liquid nectar ( my favorite- linked below), and with regular visits, it will stay full for over a week. The base threads on securely and does not leak. The flower ports don't drip or get gummy. The perch rail seems to be the perfect distance/proportion for now at least four varieties of hummers. I recommend bright color/s. If you already have hemmers that tend to favor a particular flower color, go with it! I had hummingbirds feeding on the red option within an hour. As you ALL SHOULD, I added an ant mitigation device (by TERULF linked below). However, I don't just fill it with water, since I assure you, ants will breach. Instead, I add a sprinkle of Sevin dust in the water (linked for convenience below). It works great, just be sure to do a quick wipe/rinse of your feeder- especially around the flower ports, after enough rain causes the cup to overflow. Good luck! Enjoy nature's vibrations! Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is a beautiful hummingbird feeder. This is my third feeder so I wanted something unique so that not all of them were the same. I love the colorful design and the little "railing" seems to please my little guests as they seem to stick around longer to feed. My only complaints are minor, but I had to take away a star. 1. It's a little hard to see how much food is left in the feeder until it gets very low. Not a big deal as I change the food every two to three days anyway. 2. The feeder doesn't sit flat to fill it. I have to hold it to fill it which can be a little cumbersome for me, but again, not a total game changer. Overall, I recommend this beautiful feeder. Read more
