It doesn’t release to well anymore, but still works great. Nothing came up rated higher than 3.8 and were half the price. When I finally got to this one it was at bottom of the page. I’m 5’8”, 220lbs..and this is a life saver. Highly recommended. Even at $40. That’s probably why it’s lasted since 2015. Just buy it. 11” is more than you’ll ever need unless you’re really big. OK! So NO ONE wants to admit that they need help with "personal things!" I know that!! Seriously, though, when my back went out, and I mean OUT... This thing simply saved my life AND my dignity!! I want to start out by saying that I AM a bit larger but I bought this for other reasons. 1. I was rather crazy in my younger days and my back is in shambles... Even my doctor referred to my discs as "tattered." When it got so bad that I couldn't walk, stand, turn, or even bend over, I knew I was in a pickle of sorts... 2. My arms are just short... Like T-Rex short... I know this and it is what it is... So, when I could no longer twist or turn or bend over, my short arms became a HUGE problem... I decided to start looking for options as soon as it became apparent that I might need something, and I am GLAD I DID!! I had read other reviews about cracking and breaking of the handle, so I got 2 just in case.... but that said, I have NEVER had a problem with them... and now I have one for home and one for travel... When I was in the thick of it, that is to say when I was in so much pain I could BARELY move, the Bottom Buddy kept me from having to ask for THAT kind of help... it LITERALLY saved my dignity, and probably much, much more... So, YEAH, am I embarrassed that I needed something like this??? YES! Of course.... but when I think of other people suffering like I did and knowing that I can help them find something that can help them maintain their independence and dignity with a good product? Yeah, I am willing to suffer a bit of public embarrassment to do that!! Sometimes I use it now just to be safe, if it feels like my back is getting 'out of control' again, just to keep myself from doing stupid things that could re-injure me and result in me being, literally, immobile again... Following major spine surgery I got some of those “Long Reach tools, but I found the part that grabs the paper or wipes to be unsatisfactory. I’m not using those at all anymore - garbage! It’s the recurved design and the blue nubbin-claw that allow one th really get up in there as needed. A nurse in the hospital recommended this specific type of Bottom Buddy and I took my time ordering it because it was a little pricey. Turned out to be well worth it. Let’s be frank; Not being able to wipe your own butt is humiliating and works against your ability to be independent. Bottom Buddy is better than the other kinds because the grabber mechanism for the TP or wipes is really strong and easy to use with the switch that opens the grabbing part and holds it open while you place the wipey in the rubber claw. The others don’t open and close, you just have to stuff a small, oval rubber opening with the paper or wipey and hope that it holds. Also the shape of the Bottom Buddy is much better for getting up in between your cheeks, especially if you butt cheeks are well-rounded. Superior technology in every way.
