This is my first ever water filter. And this being my first replacement filter. Itβs one piece & you donβt need to put anything together which makes it easy to replace. So far so good! Read more

To this day, I am still not sure how this filter works and how the flashing light knows when it is time to change the filter. At no time does the water, indicator light or filter touch, but still it seems to know. The last filter I purchased I swear that it said to change every three months but this new and improved filter says two months, but the same 40 gallons of water. That is not something that I keep track of but when the green light turns red, then I know it is time for replacing and that usually happens every 2 β 3 month. Do not believe the directions. They now say that you do not have to presoak the filter, just rinse it for 15 seconds under running water. This made the water taste horrible. I went back to soaking it for 15 minutes and the water is much better. Every time I replace the filter, I tend to run into the same issue of it not seating correctly. This time I took the reservoir out and spun the filter until it grabbed correctly. Not sure if others have this same type of issue, but this made better sense to me. I also ran into the issue of the blinking light not turning green with the new filter. It was not until I presoaked it that the light turned green. Now I am finally back to the clean tasting water that I am accustomed to. I am on city water and from time to time, the chlorine taste is unbearable and the hard water deposits have ruined two coffeemakers. I have noticed that with the Brita pitcher and filter I am receiving consistently pleasant tasting water and no problems with my coffeemaker. I guess my takeaway with this latest filter is to go back to the original directions and realize that new and improved is not always better. Read more
