Okay, so my biggest fear with this phone mount was, and still is, "that's a lot of money for a phone mount" and I still feel justified in saying a solid "maybe." For $60 USD at time of order and review (about 2 months after ordering), the build is basically all-metal. The pieces come in a flimsy-as-heck plastic tray inside the box, but the pieces themselves feel fantastic! The knurling on the various pieces is nice and does help twist together the mount (more on that in a bit). The twist-to-lock joints are very well-constructed, and the twist knobs are 1) a very nice minty blue color 2) easy to grip, even though they're smooth and un-textured. A major plus in my book is the suction cup. My wife has and uses a standard, lightweight suction cup-based phone mount with that reusable adhesive in addition to the suction cup. This mount does NOT have any extra adhesive, meaning it comes off and re-mounts both cleanly and with ease. The suction cup is also twist-lock with a clearly marked ON or OFF position for the twist knob at the base of it. Again, not textured but still very easy to use. I don't own or drive a truck, but I chose the Long variant because it offers the ability to mount the base more out-of-the-way or out-of-view so it doesn't obstruct the windshield as much as some smaller/shorter mounts do. The thing I like most about this mount is the customization, hands-down. If I want to mount it further off on the windshield, I'll use all the bits to do so. If I do eventually own a truck, I can rebuild the mount to have the extension closer to the suction area or the phone itself, depending on my needs. If I just want to mount it like a normal phone in a smaller interior, I can forgo the extension portion entirely and assemble it identically to the non-Long variant. And, because there are 4 different tilt points (the 2 at the double-ball-joint segment, the tilt on phone clasp area, and the 360-degree freedom for rotation on the base of the phone mount-end-area) I can set this up in so many different ways, meaning this is a mount that, while expensive, will last you MANY years and through numerous vehicles, without breaking a sweat. My only gripe is the choice of the grabbing "fingers" on the mount end itself. I use a Pixel 8 Pro, which has both the power and volume buttons on the right side of the phone. This means that I can't have the phone mounted "equally" as most of CARMOUNT's marketing images show iPhones (which have the buttons split between the two sides of the device's chassis). While not a deal-breaker (I can still have my phone mounted, just a little high in the grip). Overall, this mount requires the buyer to consider if they want something affordable and quick, that may wear out some after a few years, or if they want to spend more upfront to get a (likely) significantly more durable mount that can easily move between loadouts and vehicles for (again, likely) many years to come. It works great, and I cannot complain about any of the issues that others have come across, which makes me happy personally. Read more

I drive a Jeep that doesn't have a lot of dash space, and the windshield isn't very tall, so I don't have the room for things that need to attach to the dash while not blocking my ability to see our the windshield fully. So I decided to try a phone holder that suction-cupped to the windshield. The version I ordered was the long one, because I wanted to make sure that my phone would be below the windshield completely. This was a great choice. Pros: Easy to assemble (just a few parts, and easy to follow instructions); Attaches to the windshield easily and securely (no need to wet anything, no need to push hard while tightening the part to make it stick; just hold it where you want it and turn the knob); The arms, ball joints, and some other parts are metal, while the remainder are thick, strong plastic; The suction cup has a small footprint so doesn't obstruct my view); The arm is really long (I probably could have used the regular length holder and still be just below the dash); The joints stay locked in place firmly when tightened, but I can loosen the joints without needing Superman strength when I need to; There are ball joints where the phone holder and the suction cup parts attach to the arm so the angles can be adjusted as needed; The part that holds the phone has silicone that keeps my phone from slipping out; There are two pins underneath that you squeeze together to open the holder to put in or take out your phone; Holds my phone in a wallet case open easily and firmly; Easy access to charge my phone Con: The absolute only thing that I could say may be not great is that it is a bit pricey ($60 at the time I wrote this review); similar ones seem to be $10+ cheaper, but I don't know the quality of those. The quality of this phone holder is excellent and well worth the price. This is sturdy and solid. It stays in place and keeps my phone in place. I absolutely recommend this. If you are hesitant to spend so much on a cellphone holder, think about how much you will spend to replace cheaper holders when they stop remaining tight, don't adhere well, don't hold your phone securely, or the plastic parts break.
