I bought this for my wife as a stocking stuffer for Christmas last year. She managed to put our old, cheapie digital thermometer in the dishwasher, and you can probably guess what happened there. So I did some research and found that this thermometer had some good reviews and was a reasonable price (I was willing to pay a few extra bucks to get a good thermometer). So far, this thermometer has been great for basic home use. It seems to have a very nice quality build. It has fast temperature reads and it is easy to use. I haven't tried to submerge the thing or wash it in the dishwasher, but I like the fact that it claims to be waterproof just in case. It does wash easily in the sink with no obvious water intrusion issues so far. I really like how the cover can also be attached to the back of the thermometer, essentially acting as an extension handle. We use the extension for the grill, which can get a little too hot with a short thermometer. Overall, we have been very happy with this purchase and it seems like it will last a long time. Highly Recommended! Read more

I've purchased a lot of these over the years. They work pretty good, the price is good and they're washable. Every time I break one, lose one or melt one, I buy another. MUCH more convenient than those monstrously huge fold-out models. Not the fastest temp read, but fast enough. I'll take the extra second or three to temp something vs paying an additional $50 for something I'm going to break or lose within 6 months. Pocket clip ALWAYS breaks off on these after one or two uses, so be prepared for that fact of life. A lanyard works better anyway. Read more

Worked well but not a good idea to keep it in high temperatures. I was cooking sugar to over 300 degrees and the plastic clip on the back started melting. Also, after holding it in the hot sugar for a long time, the numbers were unclear. I'm a culinary student and I'd say this works well for tempering chocolates or checking meat temperatures. Stick to candy thermometers for very high temps/\. Read more

It's reasonably fast, and the tip is quite thin, and also long enough to get to the center of most normal cuts of meat (about 3 cm or so), and thus there is little worry about draining too many juices from the meat. That said, it's consistently 1° F under the correct temperature (tested with boiling water). That makes essentially no difference in cooking, but for some reason, it annoys me. Either way, I don't have enough need for the 5-6 second read I'll get from a Thermapen, or even a Javelin PRO. As I said above, a 1° difference makes no difference to the cooking, so I can't imagine that either of those is 3-13 times better than this one. If you're a home cook consistently cooking for large parties, or if you're working at a restaurant, maybe that warrants the increased cost. I think this is perfectly suitable for most home cooks. I wouldn't even consider a Thermopop, they're not sold on Amazon, and I'd have to pay extra for two day shipping, which is not something I'm willing to do these days. Read more

I'm still undecided about this product, and more so about it's accuracy. Firstly, it's rather flimsy, and difficult to maneuver if one uses it on top of the stove, say to "temp" a mini-steak, or hamburger patty, and the read-out is really too small to be accurately identifiable. If range of temperature is what one is looking for, that may suit this needs of such a consumer. At this point, having it but a few days, I've used it as related above, and also in a meat sauce, and an egg-base mixture, so the temperature read-out was important, but I had someone else double-check it for me. Frankly, I'll purchase a higher cost item, or one on sale, and make sure there is a cable attached to ensure ease of use as well as a large, lit, temperature read out. Read more

Researched thermometers online before purchasing. This one lives up to its reviews and my husband loves its functionality, accuracy and display. Also, the temperature guides printed on the body are quite helpful. Very glad I didn't buy one of those that are twice the price—this one checks all the boxes. Read more

This thermometer has been such a great addition to my kitchen. I was looking for a multiple use thermometer & that's what I got. It's easy to use, gives a quick reading & it can be stored in small places. I use it for meat & oil the most & it's held up well. My only complaint is I wish the clip was wider. Not a big enough deal to return it or find a new one. ****UPDATE**** 3 years later and this little thermometer is still working great. I haven't had any problems. Read more
