I purchased one of these and it works great so I decided I'd get a second one since the first got used often and was sometimes in the dishwasher. What a mistake. The first one has a handle that is threaded and screws into the grater drum. The second one has a bayonet style mount. When I received the second one, the drum didn't even turn so I sent it back and got a replacement. The replacement lasted exactly one use. Well, technically it didn't even last that long. It didn't grate the cheese and worse yet, the piece that holds the cheese broke. At this point, I can't be bothered to even return the thing. My time is worth more than the purchase price. Into the trash it went. So, IF (and that's a big IF), you can get one with the threaded handle instead of the bayonet handle you might just get a great grater (see what I did there?). If not, be prepared to waste your time packing and returning it.... Buyer beware. Update: as of today, 1/11/24 it looks like they may have the older version that I have and love. I'm gonna take another chance cuz I still want a second one. The reason I think it's the good version with the threads is due to the fourth picture. The smaller picture labelled "2" shows the threads and looks exactly like the good one I have. I noticed that when I purchased the bad ones, you could see the bayonet style mount and there were two slots cut into the plastic on either side of the handle. I'll update this review when I get the new one. Update: 1/31/24 I received the new one and sure enough, it's the old style I love. It has the handle that is threaded and screws on to the rest of the grater. I'm going to leave this as a one star review however so folks that read it will be able to identify which of the two is currently being sold. Worked really well until it broke, the size if kind of small so cutting cheese into smaller sizes helps, but it worked fine it just jammed once and the handle snapped. Did a great job for the price. Read more

First off, this is actually much smaller than it looks. It works well enough, but you're not putting a whole wedge of Parmesan in there all at once. This gets 3 stars from me for one reason; it is a NIGHTMARE to clean. It does not come apart at all. If it does, I can't figure out how, and it comes with no instructions at all. The minute you hit it with hot water, all the cheese crumbs immediately melt and slither in between the metal drum and the plastic housing. Turn the drum, there's your melted cheese. Rinse it, the cheese goes back to the bottom. Turn the drum, there's your cheese again! I'm putting it in the dish washer (is it dishwasher safe? Who knows!), but I suspect that's not going to do much better. We'll see. Otherwise works as expected, although if you have arthritis or hand pain, it's gonna be a challenge. Read more

The handle pops off every time we use it. It’s so tiny that we can’t get a rotation without great difficulty, no torque at all. Definitely doesn’t work at all for left handed users. We passed the return date while it sat forgotten in a drawer. Just buy one from Olive Garden that works! Read more
