Keep this *level* on your freezer shelf. When you’re ready for an ice cream treat, take it out, pour your liquid ice cream mix to cover the plate, wait several seconds, then use the plastic tool to scrape the solidifying cream around until it’s all frozen. I like it soft serve style, but you can put your serving into the freezer for awhile to harden it if you prefer. I rinse the plate under warm tap water, while wiping with a sponge, dry with a dish towel and put it right back into freezer for next time. The easy recipe I use, I make ahead of time and store in fridge till I’m ready for a treat. In a ~3 cup glass bottle or jar, I put in these ingredients, and shake well before using: 1.75 Cups Heavy Cream 1.25 Cups Whole Milk .75 Cup Sugar 1/8 tsp. Fine Sea Salt 1 Tblsp. Vanilla *for chocolate, I just add ~1/4 cup powdered Nesquik **This recipe makes a lot of ice cream for just one or two people, so I have leftover mix for several different days. The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to take to the beach with us as something fun for the kids to do. It was exactly that - fun! The bowl is not much larger than a dinner plate and is just under 2-inches thick. It was barely noticeable in our freezer. It feels well constructed and solid, but is not heavy. The included utensils are also well constructed and definitely up to the task of making many batches of ice cream. I really appreciate the thoughtful design of the utensils. The handles slide inside of one another and hold together firmly. They take up very little space in a drawer when attached to one another, and will always be able to be located together. The hot pink/purple color does make them easy to find as well. The non-skid bottom could use a bit of tweaking as it did slide around a bit. We resolved the matter by placing a silicone hot pad under it. Advice from someone who has used this multiple times now: Washing after use when you intend to reuse it soon can be tricky. The washing process will leave a thin layer of ice on the bowl. Be sure to scrape that ice off before you poor your ice cream base for the next use. Read more
This ice cream maker is fun and easy to use, but best suited to one serving at a time. The first serving is always great, but the dish doesn't stay cold enough for multiple servings. Some reviewers said that you need to turn the temperature way down in your freezer, which I have not tried yet, but that might make all the difference. Bottom line, I'd say that this is just perfect for a single person, or somebody who wants ice cream from time to time, but doesn't want a half gallon of ice cream sitting in their freezer, calling their name in the middle of the night.......... :-) Read more
I followed the instructions by spraying both cookie trays with baking spray and I had zero sticking of the cookies. They came off perfectly. It was easy to disassemble and pop out the sandwiches after about 2 hrs in the freezer. The cookie recipe tastes good, but the yield is too much. It’s as if they think you’re making 25 of these lol, too much leftover batter! My batter also came out way runnier than what is shown on the video. But overall it’s a neat little gadget, glad I got it. Want to experiment with a vanilla cookie recipe and homemade fruit sorbet fillings! Read more
I got this because we love vegan ice cream and it's very expensive. I didn't want another big appliance in the kitchen though and this seemed like a good choice. I find we're not using it as much as I hoped and we're still buying vegan ice cream. Pros for us Small profile, fits in freezer without taking up too much room Looks nice, well made and seems to be high quality Makes good portion sizes Fun for kids to be involved in Cons for us Does not include any dairy-free recipes. I experimented with many vegan ice cream bases but none ever really firmed up to the level of actual ice cream. Still requires a bunch of advanced planning to make the ice cream base, cool the platter sufficiently, take it out, "churn" the ice cream etc. One person doing all the mixing while everyone else eats their portion and by the time it's your turn the platter isn't cold enough anymore We find we're still buying ice cream so it doesn't seem to have saved any money If I could find a good recipe then I might use it more. Maybe recipes for traditional ice cream maker bases need to be adjusted in some what to work well with this product but there is no information about that with the product. Read more
Yes 5 Star! I had no issues with this product. If you follow the directions it works perfectly. Did not stick to the mold since I coated it with cooking spray. Use only a tablespoon of batter (I used brownie mix). I made several batches since it only takes 10 minutes to cook. Make sure your tray supporting the mold does not warp under heat. Otherwise you will have lopsided sandwiches. Clean up was a breeze using standard dish detergent. I vacuumed sealed mine after letting them freeze for 24 hours. NO.. this was not a paid review, just being honest. I will be purchasing another. Read more
I was sooo excited to get this and immediately wiped it off and put in my deep freezer. Two days later, it was icy cold but I could hear sloshing inside. I tried to make ice cream, but nothing. No freezing at all. I poured the cream concoction out, wiped it off and set it back in the deep freeze. I gave it another 2 days (now 4 days total) and tried it again. Same result. This thing feels icy to the touch, but my cold cream wont freeze. I am immensely disappointed. I think the box has been thrown away and now I have to figure out how I can return it and get my money back. $50 waste of money. :( Read more
