A wealth of smart functionalities in one pair of glasses

Made of mid-grade matte finish plastic, the glasses are a bit on the bulky side, thick frame around glasses, thick ear pieces to hold all of its technology including battery, memory, AI chip, speakers, etc. At its ends toward the front of frame are camera on left and led light on right. The video recording is designed not for discreet but more of obvious as white led light is lit on when you hit start button on the frame, and this action is also obvious as you do it with your right hand and on the right ear piece, both taking photo or recording, a snap picture shuttle sound also loudly heard. First button on top of right ear piece is for photo (one click) and recording (two clicks). Second button is for power on / Bluetooth connection / AI activating, then AI voice assistant (one click) and AI image regconition (two clicks) and recording (by holding 2s). Music is controlled by side touch and sliding button. Sound quality is more of entry level even with the help from rubber tube to guide sound right on to your ear canal. The rest of functionalities are all in the app. Taking photo of QR code will give you direct link to app store. Once installed "Cyan Glasses" app, you have to allow its access to Bluetooth, wifi, etc and register account. I'm quite impressed with AI assistant. You can take a picture or recording a clip and ask to analyze what is in front of you and it will explain. Prompt to activate AI: "Hey glasses" or hold down second button while asking questions. Photos and videos clips are first saved on the glasses and have to import to app to see. Other AI functions include AI translate, AI image regconition, AI voice assist. These are very much learn as you go and experience what it could and couldn't do. While everything is including in the package, (glasses, tints, pouch, clothes, charging cable, nice packaging design, etc), these glasses needs improvement on material build, cosmetic look and feel, smaller profile, better discretion, and camera blending with the frame should be like an element of design and not too obvious. For the price, you can't beat. Read more

Ok camera glasses, bad smart glasses

I know you get what you pay for and I definitely didn't expect Meta glasses for this price, but if usability would be better they would be good for the price. Let's first start with good part. They are actually decently made, actually quite light weight for this time of glasses. They actually don't look cheap so that's good. So I got these glasses more for recording purposes. My kid plays hockey and in days when we go practice there is no phone allowed on ice, so eather I can mount go pro and look like one of those dads or use these and be more discreet when recording my kids skating. I could totally forgive bad "smart stuff" that I will talk about in a second if only they would be great camera glasses. So first of all you need app to download videos, so if you are recording your kids, it's concerning since theyr TOS state they can share all your staff with whatever they want. Local micro SD would solve all that and I would 5 star this for that alone. Second when you record flash light stays on at all times and makes you look bad. It's nice that you kind of inform other people that you are recording, well small red led light would look better than flash light that is on at all times. Speakers are fine actually as long as you understand that it will not match earphone / headphone quality. Now let's talk about Smart functions, voice don't work, you need to take out phone to use any of features, so in that case I can just use ChatGPt app to ask questions, don't need glasses for that. It makes it to use this product really hard. It also lacks AI recognition tailoring, for example hey explain what I see in 10 words. Instead it will talk for like 5minutes to explain absolutely everything it sees without way to stop her talking. Same for translator, it's just built in in an app, so you can use any other translation app and be fine, there is jo functionality with in glasses, they just work as mic and speaker. Read more

Fun cheap toy glasses pretending to be the future

I grabbed these mostly out of curiosity and they do at least look the part. On my face they read as regular sunglasses, not a prop from a sci fi set, which makes them a lot easier to wear in public. The extra lenses are a nice idea in theory, but swapping them is clunky enough that I do not feel like doing it often, so I mostly stick with one setup and call it a day. As a lightweight “all in one” they kind of work if you go in with modest expectations. The built in speakers are fine for a podcast or a quick call when I do not want to dig out earbuds, but you definitely are not getting private or high end sound here and everyone around you will hear a bit of what you are listening to. The cameras give you this low res, early 2000s throwback look that can be charming in a “vintage digital” way, but they are nowhere near phone camera quality and the company is honest that this is not meant to replace your main camera. Basic controls and voice commands are easy enough to figure out and do what they are supposed to do. Where things really fall apart is the AI side. You have to install their custom app and use their default assistant, and responses can take over a minute even for simple stuff like checking the weather, which makes it feel more like a demo than a tool. The assistant also loves to over explain whatever you are looking at after snapping a picture, which gets old quickly when you just wanted a quick answer. For the current low price, I see these as a gimmicky playground to tinker with smart glasses ideas and that is about the level where they make sense. If they ever opened up to better third party software or modern AI models they would be a lot more interesting, but I would not pay anything close to what the big name smart glasses cost for this experience.
