Nice looking, but completely inaccurate
This ring seemed like an ideal solution - I was hoping for a way to track steps, sleep, and heart rate without wearing a watch. When I got it, I was initially impressed - nice look, well integrated, easy to charge, good battery life. Unfortunately, the data it collects is garbage. I set it for hourly heart rate checks - sometimes it gets them, sometimes it doesn't. The rate depends on where the sensor is on the side of my finger - if the ring turns a bit so the sensor is on the 'back' of my finger, the heart rate recorded is 50-75% higher than normal. Sleep monitoring was utterly useless. It missed about three days a week completely, and other days it registered sleep of 1 hr., or 35 minutes. I'd go to bed at 11pm and wake up at 7, well-rested, and my sleep records would show I was asleep for 15 minutes and awake for 7 hours and 45 minutes. Step monitoring was slightly more 'accurate' - but still useless. It just missed several days completely (of course, the days I'd put in the most walking!). I don't know if the problem is the ring itself, or the supporting phone app, or some combination of failures of both. I had to "factory reset" the ring a couple of times, and the app never seemed to update properly and reliably. Bottom line - as a gadget, this ring is worthless. There's a reason it's cheap.
I bought this to use as a pedometer so I could avoid watches and wearing bulky things. After testing it against other pedometers this ring is way off, not by a few steps, or even hundreds but sometimes over a thousand steps. It's also fairly thick and begins to hurt after a short period of use. Also, I have never been able to get it to function to monitor my sleep, if that's important to you. It does have an excellent battery life, but when it barely functions there isn't much battery use I suppose. Read more
