Comfortable waistband but legs are really wide

I'm happy with the fit around the waist (size XL). The elastic band is wide and comfortable. The length of the pants is just right (I'm 5' 6'). Pockets are deep and there is a small zip up pocket that is perfect for my keys. I like the color (navy) and fabric weight (will be good for warm and cool weather). But the legs are much wider than I need. Read more

I believe this new style of pant replaces one that I have been buying for years and love. This new pant is very good, checks a lot of boxes - sun protection, fits very well, great fabric, can be worn for sport, layered, or dressed up a bit, flattering on - but I only gave it 4 stars due to the length. I am 5' 9" and ordered the long. I'm keeping it (and knew the inseam before I ordered it) but it should be an inch or two longer. It isn't an ankle pant (and shouldn't be) but it isn't full length either. I am glad that Columbia is making pants in 3 inseam sizes though - it's a good start. I would mention how the pant launders and doesn't wrinkle, but I haven't washed it yet. The fabric looks the same or similar to the old style, which did wash very well. Read more

Waist band is thick and VERY tight

When I got these on sale for $14, I wasn't expecting much. However, the waist band on these pants makes them almost unwearable. I am afraid if I wear these for more than 30 mins at a time I will end up with a UTI because they give me a severe wedgie when I sit down and they squeeze my waist due to the waist band being so restrictive and thick. The legs of the pants look normal, so I'm not sure why the waist is so overly tight and disproportionate to the straight leg look and feel of the pant legs. For reference, I'm 5'3, 109 lbs, and purchased size XS. I would not recommend these unless your waist is very tiny in proportion to the lower half of your body. Read more
