They recommend using Distilled water for this Unit. So far the machine works fantastic. The initial start up is NOT instant, it takes around 11 minutes to produce your first 9 pieces of Ice. The self cleaning operation works great. But I haven’t tried to figure how to turn it off after using that Cycle. I just unplug it. I like to chew ice, and the ice bullets do not hurt my teeth.
