It's a really good curling iron. It lasts for a good long time. The spring wears out after years and years of use of course, but that is to be expected from it. After all these years, at least 20+, the curling iron still works, but the spring does not hold the hair down any longer and can no longer curl the hair. If you were curling your hair in the 70's, this is the correct size. Read more
This curling iron is perfect for me. It only has one temperature, and that is ok. I have arthritis in my hands and the curling irons with the levers to push to operate cause me great difficulty to use. This has a push button type lever that is easy to use. I'm old enough to remember when all curling irons were like this, so it's not a great shocker for the money. The 5/8" size is exactly what I've been looking for, as 1/2" makes my hair fuzzy and 3/4" makes curls that are too loose to give any body to my fine hair. The curls are very smooth and long lasting. These are the plus factors. On the negative size, there is no temperature control, no ceramic coating (use a heat protective product prior to drying your hair), and it takes a LONG time to heat up. The little dot turns from red to a grayish color when it is fully heated. I plug it in, go put on my makeup, and then come back. You have to unplug it, as there is no off switch. Overall, this does what I need it to, although I may look for another one with more features. Read more
I don't like to give a bad review, but the quality of this curling iron is bad. It doesn't heat hardly at all, and because of that it's not worth any amount paid for it. If you are wanting to order something to "curl" your hair, don't purchase this. I usually won't do reviews, but this one hasn't worked well from day one, I should have returned it. It's hard to find a 5/8" curling iron so I grabbed this one when I saw it. Great price. It works fine. Unfortunately, I've been spoiled and am not trained to unplug when done. This has no on/off switch. No auto-shutoff. You must remember to unplug it. Read more
