Conair The Cordless Collection 5 8-inch Curling Iron with Travel Case

Many years ago I had a couple Conair butane curling irons. I loved them! Used them regularly. Currently on a road trip and left my usual iron at home. Instead of going to Target and buying another cheap curling iron, I decided to find something cordless, that I could leave in my car to use strictly for traveling. I received this yesterday while at my son's house. I opened it and, though it is quite a bit smaller than the previous Conairs I had, it had a case and I thought it would be great for traveling! I turned it on and it started right away, and I used it.....once. This morning I have been trying and trying to light it, start it, and it just does not respond. Then I started writing this one star negative review. While it was being processed by Amazon, I figured out that there is an "on" switch and a "start" switch. It started yesterday when I turned it on, which I guess it wasn't supposed to. When I found the "start" switch, it came on and I am really happy! We have gone through about 3 of these now. They work well for about 2 or 3 times and then won’t light. You can hear the butane flowing, but it will not ignite. They seem to all do the same thing and changing to a new butane cell doesn’t make any difference. I do not recommend this product as they have a very short life in my experience. Read more

This is a very small barrel curling iron. The butane takes a while to heat up the iron and only very small segments of hair can be curled at a time. Not ideal for thick hair. With all that said, I bought this for off grid camping and those rare moments we go into “town” for dinner or drinks, it gets the job done with no electricity required and is small and portable. I used the original version of this curling iron for almost 40 yrs and loved it. It finally broke and bought another one, it works and is great for travel but does not get as hot as the old one and the design seems cheap and thin. After I use it a while I will do another review. Read more

I bought this in 2023. It has never worked.I went in circels to get a refund or a replacement and never got either. Amazon refused to refund and you cannot return it to conair for a refund because you bought it from Amazon. There was a notice on Amazon where this was listed that it had bad reviews of it not working and I bought it anyways like a dummy. So this has been an issue for 2 years where this product does not work as I see other reviews with the same issue. I do not see how Conair can offer a defective product continuously for years and no one has reported this to the FTC or BBB except me. I seriously want this curling iron but a different brand, if only to find one. Read more
