Nice and Noisy Fun!
We ordered these at a gift for our nephew. He loves playing with them! They have held up to him playing with the instruments daily. The instruments are all brightly colored and fun looking, the materials are solid and seem like good quality. The best part is the sound quality - they make *noise* unlike many of the kids' versions of instruments. My brother in law commented on how impressive it is that something so small as the xylophone can be as loud as it is - and I consider that a great thing because of all the loud things he has gifted my children over the years! My sister greatly appreciates the variety of instruments my nephew has been exposed to in this set. He is only 16 months old, so he can't quite play the whistles yet, but he can manage the drums, triangles, xylophone (his favorite), maracas, tambourine and shakers/clappers. It also came with a storage bag, which is always a pro. While the instruments are high quality and have good variety, I do think they are still a bit overpriced at $40. It seems like the label of Montessori is often used to garner a higher asking price, but all of the instruments are of a fairly simple build with no electronics or complex mechanisms. I think maybe 60-70% of the asking price would be more reasonable. The price is my only reason for deducting a star. Read more
